My current work is an exploration of self, in relation to historic trauma and mental instability. I do this by creating loud and abstract tufted installations that monopolize a space, as if they demand to be talked about and will not be ignored. My work has an obvious colour scheme, of bold pinks and purples, this comes from an understanding and embrace of feminism. I am interested in undermining these colours by over-exposure, therefore re-appropriating and reclaiming them. My work is a form of “ambiguous expression,” this allows me to privately explore my own mental health, whilst also questioning how ambiguity affects the way my work is perceived. I am inspired by the work of Sarah Zapata, her textile installations with sculptural aspects display an understanding of many of the techniques I have used and learned throughout my degree. I am exploring how I can bring these techniques together within my current practice.

Mae fy ngwaith cyfredol yn archwilio’r hunan, yng nghyswllt trawma hanesyddol ac ansefydlogrwydd meddyliol. Rwy’n gwneud hyn drwy greu gosodiadau cudynnog uchel a haniaethol sy’n monopoleiddio gofod, fel petaent yn mynnu cael eu trafod a pheidio â’i hanwybyddu. Mae cynllun lliwiau amlwg i fy ngwaith, yn cynnwys lliwiau pinc a phorffor llachar, sy’n dod o ddealltwriaeth o ffeministiaeth a choflaid ohono. Mae gennyf ddiddordeb mewn tanseilio’r lliwiau yma drwy or-amlygiad, ac felly eu hail-gymeradwyo a’u hadennill. Ffurf o “fynegiant amwys” yw fy ngwaith, sy’n rhoi’r cyfle i mi archwilio fy iechyd meddwl fy hun yn breifat, wrth gwestiynu sut mae amwysedd yn effeithio ar y ffordd y canfyddir fy ngwaith. Rwyf wedi fy ysbrydoli gan waith Sarah Zapata, y mae ei gosodiadau tecstiliau a’i hagweddau cerfluniol yn arddangos dealltwriaeth o lawer o’r technegau rwyf wedi’u defnyddio a’u dysgu yn ystod fy nghwrs gradd. Rwy’n archwilio sut y gallaf dynnu’r technegau yma at ei gilydd o fewn fy ymarfer cyfredol.

My artwork was initially inspired by the rave scene which is usually an intense environment of music, colour and lights. I decided to recreate the feelings that my experience evoked, with the use of illuminative acrylics and spray paints on canvas. As spray painting...

Our species has become increasingly disconnected from nature. I focus on landscapes of personal significance and/or landscapes that have been disrupted by industrial use. Materials from these sites (often rocks, muds, and bricks) are used through a process-orientated...

Non-linear narratives such as unreliable memories, leaky dreams and deja vu are a central reference within my practice. I address the structure of these forms of narrative using repetition, replication and iterations of time. My work is largely sculptural, using...

Exploring the fragmentation of memory through the physicality of found objects and the spoken word, my work has become an archive of my family history. Due to the archival nature of my work, I replicate ways of preserving my objects through the attentiveness of their...

In my current practice I am concerned with the objectivity and phenomenology of colour. Through using media such as light and coloured acetate, my present work is intentionally focused and uncluttered, allowing colour to be considered as a singularity without any...

With a love for colour my work addresses form and shape and the impact this has on a space. I am demonstrating how the use of bright colour can create maximum optical impact. I’m interested in pattern and repetition to create a visual aesthetic whilst whilst working...
