I believe that the world can be too complex and that there is definitive beauty in simplicity and minimalism. I feel that minimalistic designs positively affect our mental wellbeing. The ethos of my work is to show that contemporary design can occasionally be too complex and that the addition of overworked design in the home, as well as the complexity of the outside world, can be a factor to causing and exacerbating mental issues, anxiety, sadness and heightened tensions, in both attitude and mind.

Though my experiences in Japan it has impacted my belief that; interior furniture should instead be relaxing and simple, not overwhelming and complicated. My collection is for the home, it aims to minimise clutter and miscellaneous items which can add to the feeling of being overwhelmed. My minimalistic design draws attention to items we do not need and allows you to focus on what causes clutter which can then sustainably disposed of.

My collection is to be a catalyst for change, in not only personal lifestyle but also our mental attitude to items, hoarding and keeping un-necessary ‘things.’ When un-necessary items are removed, we focus on details that would have otherwise been hidden. This allows us to have a genuine personal connection to items we then decide to keep that we have a connection to.

Dwi’n credu y gall y byd fod yn rhy gymhleth a bod harddwch diffiniol mewn symlrwydd a minimaliaeth. Dwi’n teimlo bod dyluniadau minimalaidd yn effeithio’n gadarnhaol ar ein lles meddyliol. Ethos fy ngwaith yw dangos y gall dylunio cyfoes fod yn rhy gymhleth o bryd i’w gilydd ac y gall ychwanegu dyluniad sydd wedi’i orweithio yn y cartref, yn ogystal â chymhlethdod y byd y tu allan, fod yn ffactor sy’n achosi ac yn gwaethygu problemau meddyliol, pryder, tristwch a mwy o densiwn, o ran agwedd ac yn y meddwl.

Er bod fy mhrofiadau yn Japan wedi effeithio ar fy nghred; y dylai dodrefn fod yn syml ac annog ymlacio, nid yn llethol ac yn gymhleth. Mae fy nghasgliad ar gyfer y cartref, a’i nod yw lleihau annibendod ac eitemau amrywiol a all ychwanegu at y teimlad o ormodedd llethol. Mae fy nghynllun minimalaidd yn tynnu sylw at eitemau nad oes eu hangen arnom ac yn eich galluogi i ganolbwyntio ar yr hyn sy’n achosi annibendod y gellir ei waredu’n gynaliadwy wedyn.

Diben fy nghasgliad yw bod yn sbardun ar gyfer newid, nid yn unig mewn ffordd bersonol o fyw ond hefyd yn ein hagwedd feddyliol tuag at eitemau, casglu gormodedd o bethau a chadw ‘pethau’ diangen. Pan fydd eitemau nad oes eu hangen yn cael eu symud ymaith, rydym yn canolbwyntio ar fanylion a fyddai wedi bod yn gudd fel arall. Mae hyn yn ein galluogi i gael cysylltiad personol gwirioneddol ag eitemau y byddwn yn penderfynu wedyn bod gennym gysylltiad â nhw.
