Goddess Sisterhood

For my collection my inspiration came from paintings that are inspired by Roman Goddesses and Renaissance. I was also inspired by the concept of Sisterhood and how having sibling friendship shapes the persona within adulthood. Having sisters, myself the three of us has different styles, personalities, interests and many more that it became a concept for portraying these two sisters to create different identities separately as well as them bonded together. This collection portrays each identity of Flora and Fauna through their Goddess Powers and Personality as they are not known for a shared role but separate identities. Flora is a Goddess of Beauty and Blossoming; she embodies femininity and creates new life. She is celebrated by the Romans through a festival called Floralia that worships her powers. Fauna is Goddess of creating wild-life and new-life into the world; she embodies the Animals as sacred beings and looks after the lands of Rome.

I chose to explore through creating my own digital print designs and focusing on the details that portrays the ultra-femininity and each Goddess sister’s identities throughout the collection. I also used a variety of hand-crafted techniques and push the importance of creating luxury bespoke pieces but also combining sustainability into the collection through using scrap materials to develop my collection such as patchwork, fabric flowers and for the clutch handbags. As a designer I want to portray luxury limited pieces but also be as sustainable as possible as the fashion industry is changing.

Goddess Sisterhood

Daeth yr ysbrydoliaeth ar gyfer fy nghasgliad o baentiadau sy’n cael eu hysbrydoli gan Dduwiesau Rhufeinig a’r Dadeni. Fe’m hysbrydolwyd hefyd gan y cysyniad o Sisteraeth a sut mae cael cyfeillgarwch brodyr a chwiorydd yn siapio’r persona pan fyddwch yn oedolyn. O gael chwiroydd fy hun, mae gan y tair ohonom wahanol steiliau, personoliaethau, diddordebau a llawer mwy y daeth yn gysyniad ar gyfer portreadu’r ddwy chwaer hyn i greu gwahanol hunaniaethau ar wahân yn ogystal â’u clymu gyda’i gilydd. Mae’r casgliad hwn yn portreadu pob hunaniaeth o Flora a Ffawna drwy eu Pwerau a’u Personoliaeth Duwiesau gan nad ydynt yn adnabyddus am rôl a rennir ond hunaniaethau ar wahân. Mae Flora yn Dduwies Harddwch a Blodeuo; mae hi’n ymgorffori ffeministiaeth ac yn creu bywyd newydd. Fe’i dethlir gan y Rhufeiniaid drwy ŵyl o’r enw Floralia sy’n addoli ei phwerau. Ffawna yw Duwies creu bywyd gwyllt a bywyd newydd i’r byd; mae’n ymgorffori’r Anifeiliaid fel bodau sanctaidd ac yn gofalu am dir Rhufain.

Dewisais archwilio drwy greu fy nyluniadau print digidol fy hun a chanolbwyntio ar y manylion sy’n portreadu’r benyweidd-dra eithaf a hunaniaethau pob un o’r chwirodydd Duwiesau drwy gydol y casgliad. Defnyddiais hefyd amrywiaeth o dechnegau wedi’u saernïo â llaw a gwthio pwysigrwydd creu darnau moethus pwrpasol ond hefyd cyfuno cynaliadwyedd i’r casgliad drwy ddefnyddio deunyddiau sgrap i ddatblygu fy nghasgliad megis clytwaith, blodau ffabrig ac ar gyfer y bagiau llaw. Fel dylunydd rwyf am bortreadu darnau cyfyngedig moethus ond hefyd bod mor gynaliadwy â phosibl fel y mae’r diwydiant ffasiwn yn newid.
