What excites me about Architectural Design and Technology is the unlimited design solutions that are possible to solve a certain set of criteria in any given brief. The rigid discipline of building science and manufacture can be met with the freedom of creativity and innovation. The process of designing and constructing a building is complex and at times unpredictable. There are many factors that could impede the initial design concept, such as time, cost or procurement method to name a few but overcoming these obstacles is the challenge that should enthuse any technically sound, creative designer. No two projects are the same. Different clients, working partners and circumstances will inevitably throw up problems specific to that project. The unique characteristics of each individual project and the varied role of an Architectural Technologist I find are the most compelling aspects of a career in construction.

Yr hyn sy’n fy nghyffroi am Ddylunio a Thechnoleg Bensaernïol yw’r datrysiadau dylunio di-rif sy’n bosib i ddatrys set benodol o feini prawf mewn unrhyw brîff penodol. Gellir ateb disgyblaeth anhyblyg gwyddor a chynhyrchu adeiladau trwy ryddid creadigrwydd ac arloesedd. Mae’r broses o ddylunio a chodi adeilad yn gymhleth ac, ar adegau, yn annarogan. Mae llawer o ffactorau a allai amharu ar y cysyniad dylunio cychwynnol, fel amser, cost neu ddull caffael i enwi ond rhai ond goresgyn y rhwystrau hyn yw’r her a ddylai godi brwdfrydedd unrhyw ddylunydd creadigol sy’n gadarn yn dechnegol. Nid oes unrhyw ddau brosiect sydd o’r un fath. Mae’n anochel y bydd cleientiaid, partneriaid gweithio ac amgylchiadau gwahanol yn creu problemau sy’n benodol i’r prosiect hwnnw. Yn fy marn i yr agweddau mwyaf cymhelliannol ar yrfa mewn adeiladu yw nodweddion unigryw pob prosiect unigol a rôl amrywiol Technolegydd Pensaernïol.
