Exploring the fragmentation of memory through the physicality of found objects and the spoken word, my work has become an archive of my family history. Due to the archival nature of my work, I replicate ways of preserving my objects through the attentiveness of their presentation. Print allows me to produce this repetition of images creating a conversation between the idea of recalling memories and the uniformity present in my display. Through this process of recollection of the past, my work touches on themes of sentimentality, family and wistfulness, creating a sense of intimacy. While the physical and verbal contents I explore hold personal significance, the subject matters I address are universally experienced. My work intents to provoke this emotional participation from the audience through the sense of familiarity creating a moment of internal reflection surrounding the viewer’s own relationship to these themes.

Gan archwilio darniad cof trwy gorfforoldeb gwrthrychau a ddarganfuwyd a’r gair llafar, mae fy ngwaith wedi dod yn archif o hanes fy nheulu. Oherwydd natur archifol fy ngwaith, rwy’n atgynhyrchu ffyrdd o gadw fy ngwrthrychau trwy sylwgarwch eu cyflwyniad. Mae print yn fy ngalluogi i gynhyrchu’r ailadrodd hwn o ddelweddau gan greu sgwrs rhwng y syniad o ddwyn atgofion i gof a’r unffurfiaeth sy’n bresennol yn fy arddangosfa. Trwy’r broses hon o gofio’r gorffennol, mae fy ngwaith yn cyffwrdd â themâu teimladrwydd, teulu a hiraeth, gan greu ymdeimlad o agosatrwydd. Er bod y cynnwys corfforol a geiriol yr wyf yn eu harchwilio o arwyddocâd personol, mae’r pynciau y byddaf yn rhoi sylw iddynt yn brofiad cyffredinol. Bwriad fy ngwaith yw ysgogi’r cyfranogiad emosiynol hwn gan y gynulleidfa trwy’r ymdeimlad o gynefindra gan greu eiliad o fyfyrio mewnol ynghylch perthynas y gwyliwr ei hun â’r themâu hyn.

I would describe my art as confessional; I take inspiration from my life events and feelings surrounding these experiences, I translate this through my work. I see my practice as a portal from my life in which I can lose myself and explore the deepest truths of my...

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
