Rebecca Stuart

BA (Hons) Textiles

I am a textiles practitioner specialising in sustainable innovation and raising awareness through design. Contributing to positive change within the textile industry, my work demonstrates that eco-friendly practices can be used commercially and sit within on-trend collections.

My collections to date encourage consumers to embrace habits or activities that will benefit the health of the environment. This collection communicates the importance of planting native wild flowers to aid wild bee populations through visual design and interactive products. Considering the production of my fabrics to the end of life of my products, my specialist skills are bundle dyeing, illustration and embroidery. Natural dyeing and eco-printing offer the exciting possibility of unpredictable outcomes with a vast range of techniques, dye plants and mordants to explore. So not to take from nature I mostly use food waste and the plants I grow in my garden to dye with. I enjoy both hand and digital illustration, my favourite being digital with a watercolour brush for a hand-drawn aesthetic. Combining these skills gives my work individuality and sustainability, without compromise on style.

Awards: Best Product Understanding

I have been awarded the opportunity for an internship with Ling Design for my innovative and sustainable response to their SS22 stationary brief.

Rwy’n ymarferydd tecstilau sy’n arbenigo mewn arloesi cynaliadwy a chodi ymwybyddiaeth trwy ddylunio. Gan gyfrannu at newid cadarnhaol o fewn y diwydiant tecstilau, mae fy ngwaith yn dangos y gellir defnyddio arferion ecogyfeillgar yn fasnachol ac eistedd o fewn casgliadau sy’n dilyn y duedd.

Mae fy nghasgliadau hyd yn hyn yn annog defnyddwyr i gofleidio arferion neu weithgareddau a fydd o fudd i iechyd yr amgylchedd. Mae’r casgliad hwn yn cyfleu pwysigrwydd plannu blodau gwyllt brodorol i gynorthwyo poblogaethau gwenyn gwyllt trwy ddylunio gweledol a chynhyrchion rhyngweithiol. O ystyried cynhyrchu fy ffabrigau hyd at ddiwedd oes fy nghynnyrch, fy sgiliau arbenigol yw lliwio bwndeli, darlunio a brodwaith. Mae lliwio naturiol ac eco-argraffu yn cynnig y posibilrwydd cyffrous o ganlyniadau anrhagweladwy gydag ystod eang o dechnegau, lliwio planhigion a mordantau i’w harchwilio. Felly i beidio â chymryd o fyd natur dwi’n defnyddio gwastraff bwyd yn bennaf a’r planhigion dwi’n tyfu yn fy ngardd i liwio gyda nhw. Rwy’n mwynhau darlunio llaw a digidol, fy ffefryn yw digidol gyda brwsh dyfrlliw ar gyfer esthetig wedi’i dynnu â llaw. Mae cyfuno’r sgiliau hyn yn rhoi unigoliaeth a chynaliadwyedd i’m gwaith, heb gyfaddawdu ar arddull.

Gwobrau: Dealltwriaeth Orau o Gynnyrch

Rwyf wedi cael y cyfle ar gyfer interniaeth gyda Ling Design ar gyfer fy ymateb arloesol a chynaliadwy i’w briff deunydd ysgrifennu SS22.
