The following project is my response to a brief that was given to us as part of our third year exposure module. This brief was to design a four-star hotel that included a restaurant/bar, gym/spa, conference centre/meeting rooms and sixty rooms for accommodation. All this was to be set throughout four floors. The brief also requested that we consider environmental factors and an aspect of innovation.

My building has a minimal pallet of materials, including glazing systems and a ventilated façade system. I believe that my project responds to all the requirements of the brief and is designed in compliance with all relevant building regulations. I have also incorporated new building material and systems to create a contemporary and functional building.

By doing this project I feel that I have pushed my abilities through learning new construction and detailing methods. Although it has been tough to produce this amount of work, overall I have enjoyed this module and feel that it will definitely benefit me in my future career when coping with live projects and the work load that comes with being an architectural technologist.

Y prosiect canlynol yw fy ymateb i friff a roddwyd i ni yn rhan o’n modiwl Exposure yn y drydedd flwyddyn. Y briff hwn oedd dylunio gwesty pedair seren ac yn y gwesty byddai tŷ bwyta/bar, campfa/sba, canolfan gynadledda/ystafelloedd cyfarfod a 60 o ystafelloedd gwely. Byddai hyn i gyd ar bedwar llawr. Roedd y briff yn gofyn hefyd ein bod yn ystyried ffactorau amgylcheddol ac elfen arloesol newydd.

Mae gan fy adeilad balet minimol o ddeunyddiau, gan gynnwys systemau gwydro a system ffasâd wedi’i awyru. Rwy’n credu bod fy mhrosiect yn ymateb i bob un o ofynion y briff a’i fod wedi’i ddylunio gan gydymffurfio â phob un o’r rheoliadau adeiladu perthnasol. Rwyf wedi cynnwys hefyd ddeunyddiau adeiladu a systemau newydd er mwyn creu adeilad cyfoes sy’n gweithio’n ymarferol.

Drwy wneud y prosiect hwn rwy’n teimlo fy mod wedi ymestyn fy ngalluoedd drwy ddysgu dulliau adeiladu a manylu newydd. Er nad gwaith hawdd oedd cynhyrchu cymaint o waith â hyn, ar y cyfan rwyf wedi mwynhau’r modiwl yma ac rwy’n teimlo y bydd o fudd i mi yn bendant yn fy ngyrfa yn y dyfodol pan fyddaf yn ymdopi â phrosiectau byw a’r baich gwaith a ddaw yn sgil bod yn dechnolegydd pensaernïol.
