‘ 興味 ’ (kyomi) is a collection that’s inspired by my own interests, curiosities, and ethical values.
This collection is an emphasis of my personality. Combining the relevancy of the Metaverse and how people are free to express themselves and their fashion anyway they wish; through reality or fantasy. This unshackled scene connects with my outlook on fashion, since I can create a world how I wish and showcase my individuality.
My interests which can be seen throughout this collection is based around streetwear, urban areas, sustainability, Japanese culture, and anime.
The COVID-19 pandemic enforced society to slow down, and during this period of self-isolation in my second year I took the opportunity to explore new hand-made crafts, with my grandmother. This is when I found a sustainable and innovative process of recycling unused and forgotten plastic bags into wearable fabric. Through sampling and development I found through melting this and others similar, this textile in particular allowed me to stitch and manipulate for clothing. I also discovered that the more folded the bag, the stiffer the surface became. Both looks incorporates this original fabric and was the inspiration behind my dissertation essay.
The fabric used is all natural or sustainably sourced, and through merging the above with my streetstyle and oversized aesthetic, this created inclusive designs. Since these silhouettes have morphed into a unisex, easily accessible to wear, and can cater to more than one body size.
Mae ‘ 興味 ’ (kyomi) yn gasgliad a ysbrydolwyd gan fy niddordebau, chwiwiau, a fy ngwerthoedd moesegol i fy hun.
Mae’r casgliad yn pwysleisio fy mhersonoliaeth. Gan gyfuno perthnasedd y Meta fydysawd a’r modd y mae pobl yn rhydd i fynegi eu hunain a’u ffasiwn mewn unrhyw fodd y dymunant Drwy realiti neu ffantasi. Mae’r byd rhydd yn cysylltu â fy rhagolwg i ar ffasiwn, gan y gallaf greu’r byd a fynnaf ac arddangos fy unigolyddiaeth.
Gellir gweld fy niddordebau, sy’n seiliedig ar ddillad stryd, ardaloedd trefol, cynaliadwyedd, diwylliant Japan ac anime, drwy’r casgliad hwn drwyddo draw.
Anogodd pandemig COVID-19 gymdeithas i arafu, ac yn y cyfnod hwn o hunanynysu yn ystod fy ail flwyddyn, manteisiais ar y cyfle i archwilio crefftau llaw, gyda fy mam-gu. Dyma pryd y canfyddais broses gynaliadwy ac arloesol ailgylchu bagiau plastig heb eu defnyddio ac yr anghofiwyd amdanynt yn ddefnydd gwsigadwy. Drwy samplu a datblygu, sylweddolais drwy doddi hwn ac eraill tebyg, fod y tecstil hwn yn fy ngalluogi i’w bwytho a’i ddefnyddio ar gyfer dillad. Gwelais hefyd y mwyaf yr oedd y bag wedi’i blygu, y mwyaf caled fyddai’r arwyneb. Mae’r ddau edrychiad yn ymgorffori’r defnydd gwreiddiol a dyma’r ysbrydoliaeth ar gyfer fy nhraethawd ymchwil.
Mae’r defnydd a ddefnyddiwyd yn hollol naturiol a chynaliadwy, a thrwy gyfuno’r uchod â fy steil stryd ac aestheteg rhy fawr, crëwyd y dyluniad cynhwysol yma. Mae’r silwetau yma wedi datblygu i fod yn unrhywiol, yn hygyrch i’w gwisgo, ac yn gallu gweddu i fwy nag un maint corff.
