My interest lies in organic shapes, and the abstraction of them. I use a range of materials and processes in my work, focusing on the 2d, including acrylic paint, watercolour, collage, pens, stitch and fabric. Usually working on a larger scale, I like to include bold shapes and bright colours, often complimentary, with expressive marks and movement. Big shapes are broken up by the addition of overlaid details, which both interact with and contradict the base layers. I try to include contrast in all my work, either between the colours or the shapes or both – between harsh and soft. I also like to focus on juxtaposition, bringing two ideas together that conflict with each other. There is an element of quick, large movements and marks contrasted with smaller marks and drawings.

Mae gen i ddiddordeb mewn ffurfiau organig, a’u mynegi yn haniaethol. Rwy’n defnyddio amrywiaeth o ddeunyddiau a phrosesau yn fy ngwaith, gan ganolbwyntio ar 2D, yn cynnwys paent acrylig, dyfrlliw, collage, beiros, pwytho a ffabrig. Gan weithio ar raddfa eang fel arfer, rwy’n hoff o gynnwys ffurfiau beiddgar a lliwiau llachar, yn aml yn gyflenwol, gyda marciau a symudiadau mynegiadol. Rwy’n torri ar draws y ffurfiau mawr drwy ychwanegu haenau o fanylion arnynt, sy’n rhyngweithio â’r haenau sylfaen ac yn mynd yn groes iddyn nhw hefyd. Rwy’n ceisio cynnwys cyferbyniad yn fy holl waith, naill ai rhwng y lliwiau neu’r ffurfiau neu’r ddau – rhwng y llym a’r esmwyth. Rydw i hefyd yn hoffi canolbwyntio ar gyfosodiad, cyfuno dau syniad sy’n gwrthdaro â’i gilydd. Mae yna elfen o symudiadau a marciau cyflym a mawr sy’n cyferbynnu â marciau a lluniadau llai.

My artwork was initially inspired by the rave scene which is usually an intense environment of music, colour and lights. I decided to recreate the feelings that my experience evoked, with the use of illuminative acrylics and spray paints on canvas. As spray painting...

Our species has become increasingly disconnected from nature. I focus on landscapes of personal significance and/or landscapes that have been disrupted by industrial use. Materials from these sites (often rocks, muds, and bricks) are used through a process-orientated...

Non-linear narratives such as unreliable memories, leaky dreams and deja vu are a central reference within my practice. I address the structure of these forms of narrative using repetition, replication and iterations of time. My work is largely sculptural, using...

Exploring the fragmentation of memory through the physicality of found objects and the spoken word, my work has become an archive of my family history. Due to the archival nature of my work, I replicate ways of preserving my objects through the attentiveness of their...

In my current practice I am concerned with the objectivity and phenomenology of colour. Through using media such as light and coloured acetate, my present work is intentionally focused and uncluttered, allowing colour to be considered as a singularity without any...

With a love for colour my work addresses form and shape and the impact this has on a space. I am demonstrating how the use of bright colour can create maximum optical impact. I’m interested in pattern and repetition to create a visual aesthetic whilst whilst working...
