The body of work is an exploration into various manufacturing processes and materials used to represent the form of the human hand. These hands are informed by the materiality of the process used with the abstracted forms expressing the materials themselves. The collection of hands have utilised processes from paper folding and casting to 3d printing to allow an in-depth understanding of the limitations of the materials and machines. Whilst I have used traditional hand techniques, the design process has been predominantly digitally fabricated using various CAD packages. The utilisation of both facets is key to me entering the model making industry due to the constant evolution of technology whilst still holding an appreciation for hand skills.

I have produced a collection of objects in which materials mimic other materials through the manipulation of different surface finishes from smooth to textured aiming to create pieces that visually interest and invoke curiosity into the materials used.

Mae’r corff o waith yn archwiliad i wahanol brosesau gweithgynhyrchu a deunyddiau a ddefnyddir i gynrychioli ffurf y llaw ddynol. Caiff y dwylo hyn eu llywio gan berthnasedd y broses a ddefnyddir gyda’r ffurflenni haniaethadwy sy’n mynegi’r deunyddiau eu hunain. Mae’r casgliad o ddwylo wedi defnyddio prosesau’n cynnwys plygu papur a chastio ac argraffu 3d er mwyn caniatáu dealltwriaeth fanwl o gyfyngiadau’r deunyddiau a’r peiriannau. Er fy mod i wedi defnyddio technegau llaw traddodiadol, mae’r broses ddylunio wedi’i gwneud yn ddigidol yn bennaf gan ddefnyddio amrywiol becynnau CAD. Mae defnyddio’r ddwy agwedd yn allweddol i mi ymuno â’r diwydiant gwneud modelau oherwydd esblygiad cyson technoleg ond gan barhau i werthfawrogi sgiliau llaw.

Dwi wedi cynhyrchu casgliad o wrthrychau lle mae deunyddiau’n dynwared deunyddiau eraill trwy drin gorffeniadau gwahanol ar arwynebau yn cynnwys rhai llyfn a rhai gweadog gyda’r nod o greu darnau sydd o ddiddordeb gweledol ac yn ennyn chwilfrydedd am y deunyddiau a ddefnyddir.
