The work I create started with using still life photography to re-create my own landscape photography, I did this by reflecting light through different transparent and opaque objects to create my own artificial landscapes, formed by the shapes, colours and textures produced by the reflection. I began doing this as I have an interest in landscape and nature themed artwork but also wanted to abstract them. The making of these photography pieces led me into wanting to layer on top of them the textures that I found at the landscapes, I did this by bring in the use of mixed media by painting on top of images and adding materials on top of them and then going on to use collages of my own photography and images from magazines to create the shape of landscapes as the foundation of my work and using paint to add detail and texture.

My interest in nature and the artwork that stems from it comes from growing up in a small village and living right next to a forestry, where I was surrounded by nature and landscapes. My artwork became focused on landscapes after seeing an Alfred Sisley painting titled “Storrs Rock, Ladys Cove” which I then found was a painting done at Rotherslade bay in Swansea, I visited the place the painting was done in so that I could do my own version of it and from there became interested in seascapes and visiting and making artwork based on different welsh beaches.

Dechreuodd y gwaith rwy’n ei greu, wrth i fi ddefnyddio ffotograffiaeth bywyd llonydd i gael ail-greu fy ffotograffiaeth dirlun i fy hunan. Fe wnes i hyn drwy adlewyrchu golau drwy wrthrychau tryloyw a di-draidd gwahanol er mwyn creu fy nhirluniau artiffisial i fy hun wedi’u ffurfio gan y siapiau, y lliwiau a’r gweadau y bydd yr adlewyrchiad yn eu cynhyrchu. Dechreuais wneud hyn gan fod diddordeb gen i mewn gwaith celf ar thema natur a’r tirlun a hefyd am fy mod am eu haniaethu. Arweiniodd gwneud y darnau hyn o ffotograffiaeth fi i roi haenu ar ben y darnau gweadau y des i ar eu traws yn y tirluniau; fe wnes i hyn drwy ddefnyddio cymysgedd o gyfryngau drwy beintio ar ben delweddau ac ychwanegu deunyddiau ar eu pen a mynd ymlaen wedyn i ddefnyddio collages o’m ffotograffiaeth i fy hun a delweddau o gylchgronau i gael creu siapiau’r tirluniau yn sylfaen i’m gwaith a defnyddio paent i ychwanegu manylder a theimlad y tirlun.

Daw fy niddordeb mewn natur a’r gwaith celf deilliedig oherwydd i mi gael fy magu mewn pentref bach lle roeddwn yn byw drws nesaf i goedwig lle roedd natur a thirweddau o’m cwmpas. Fe ddaeth fy ngwaith celf i ganolbwyntio ar dirluniau wedi i mi weld paentiad gan Alfred Sisley o’r enw “Storrs Rock, Ladys Cove” y des i wybod wedyn oedd yn waith a beintiwyd ym Mae Rotherslade yn Abertawe. Fe wnes i ymweld â’r fan lle y peintiwyd y llun i mi gael gwneud fersiwn fy hunan ohono, ac oddi yno dechreuais ymddiddori mewn morluniau ac ymweld a chreu gwaith celf yn seiliedig ar draethau gwahanol yng Nghymru.

My work explores the relationship between a space and the art in it. I have become intrigued by how a painting can effect a space, exploring corporate art, it can be used to influence productivity and creativity in that environment. With influence from Colour Theory,...

We have never been so connected yet so alone. The internet has become integral to our daily lives, no element of our existence seems untouched by it. But have we been caught and paralysed in the web? We are constantly on display and exposed, yet anonymous. We seem to...

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
