Beginning of Existence

I use the drawing process to aid the exploration and understanding of origins. My work seeks to use the notion of drawing as an experimental tool and giving it a value beyond merely the aesthetic.

This series of work explores the space beyond the object. The dimorphic forms within my paintings, create a distinct motif, which move in the works, creating different patterning and forming a new intelligent, organism; unidentifiable within the work. The works seeks to explore the origins of these intangible forms and understand the flux in their innate, ordered complexity. It explores the beginning of existence and how it expands to become an independent intelligent being.

Within the series of works and their ordered complexity, connections are brought together and dispersed, there is no stillness. Each individual work is there to create a greater focus but explore the notion of expansion. The single organism, on its own, cannot achieve expansion. Multiple organisms must come together, in order to develop, expand and create the evolved organisms. The consciousness of the organisms is emerging which demonstrates its intelligence; the beginning of existence.

My work has evolved through an investigation into contemporary societies and the concept that modern civilisations have transitioned from a 'solid’ to 'liquid’ modernity. This means that we no longer seek a well-ordered world of stable structures but desire a world in...

The costumes of Tibet are gorgeous and colorful, and the simplicity and kindness of Tibet girls are very attractive to me.
