The majority of inspiration for the design of Friars Point Hotel came from the site. The hotels bedrooms come with cinematic views of Whitmore Bay to the East, and Watch House Bay to the West, guests are able to witness the sunrise in the morning from bedrooms on the East side, and the sunset from the West side. As the hotel takes so much inspiration from the site I decided to make it the focal point of my presentation sheets.

The exterior finishes of the building take influence from the sea and sunsets, the blue stainless steel cladding resembling the sea, and the copper cladding resembling the sunsets.

Other than the 60 luxury bedrooms and modern conference centre amenities include a spa, a business centre, a gym and event space, and a pool with 180° views.

The majority of materials used in the construction of the building come from manufacturers based in the UK and products, which are manufactured in the UK in order to minimise the environmental impact of the building. The curtain walling (windows) is manufactured in Chepstow, the steel frame in Cardiff, the roofing systems near Wigan.

Daeth y rhan fwyaf o’r ysbrydoliaeth ar gyfer dyluniad Gwesty Friars Point o’r safle. Mae golygfeydd sinematig gan ystafelloedd gwely’r gwesty o Fae Whitmore i’r dwyrain a Bae Watch House i’r gorllewin a gall gwesteion weld yr haul yn codi yn y bore o’r ystafelloedd ar yr ochr ddwyreiniol a’r haul yn machlud o’r ochr orllewinol. Gan fod y safle yn gymaint o ysbrydoliaeth i’r gwesty, penderfynais ei wneud yn bwynt canolog i daflenni fy nghyflwyniad.

Mae’r môr a’r machlud haul wedi dylanwadu ar orffeniadau allanol yr adeilad gan y ac mae’r cladin dur gwrthstaen glas yn ymdebygu i’r môr a’r cladin copr yn ymdebygu i fachlud yr haul.

Ar wahân i’r 60 ystafell wely moethus a’r ganolfan gynadledda fodern, mae’r cyfleusterau’n cynnwys sba, canolfan fusnes, campfa ac ardal ar gyfer digwyddiadau, a phwll nofio â golygfeydd 180°.

Daw’r rhan fwyaf o’r deunyddiau a ddefnyddir er mwyn adeiladu’r gwesty oddi wrth wneuthurwyr sydd wedi’u lleoli yn y DU a chynhyrchion a gynhyrchir yn y DU er mwyn isafu effaith amgylcheddol yr adeilad. Mae’r murlenni (ffenestri) yn cael eu cynhyrchu yng Nghas-gwent, y fframiau dur yng Nghaerdydd a systemau’r toeon yn agos i Wigan.
