My abstract process produces bright colour compositions against a monochromatic, domestic surface. I use a printing squeegee to distribute the acrylic and gouache medium over a white, solid vertical background. I am captivated by the way that the paint combinations creates various textures and bubbling patterns on the two-dimensional outcome. My art brings attention to the saturation of colour hues and the abstract textures that is normally unheeded in normal day-to-day life. I enlarged the scale of my work to astound its viewers as it grabs their attention, to encourage them to approach and take in the minute details that the technique of squeegee dragging produces.

My work is made up of pure displays of colour. I want viewers to draw their own conclusions about what they see or feel from the composition. My work aims to discover the tension between the contrasting and complimentary colours against a mundane background. It is exciting when amalgamating contrasting or complimentary colours together and awaiting the blended outcomes, and if the results do not hold enough unique patterns or satisfying shades the process is open to be repeated as many times as possible until I am pleased with the final product. When I place them side-by-side I deliberately choose contrasting colours to play on the visuals. If they were all monochromatic, it would become predictable and unexciting. I want my work to spotlight the way colour adds vivacity and energy to every atmosphere and object it is applied to.

Mae fy mhroses haniaethol yn creu cyfansoddiadau lliw llachar yn erbyn arwyneb unlliw, domestig. Rwy’n defnyddio gwesgi argraffu i daenu’r cyfrwng acrylig a gouache dros gefndir gwyn, solet, fertigol. Rwyf wedi fy nghyfareddu gan y modd mae’r cyfuniadau paent yn creu amrywiol weadau a phatrymau swigod ar y canlyniad dau ddimensiwn. Mae fy ngwaith celf yn tynnu sylw at ddirlawnder arlliwiau o liw a’r gwead diriaethol sydd fel arfer yn cael eu hanwybyddu mewn bywyd beunyddiol arferol. Rwyf wedi helaethu graddfa fy ngwaith i synnu’r gwylwyr gan wneud iddo ddal eu sylw, er mwyn eu hannog i ddod yn nes a sylwi ar y manylion bach sy’n cael eu creu gan y dechneg o lusgo gwesgi.

Mae fy ngwaith wedi’i greu o arddangosfeydd pur o liw. Rwyf am i wylwyr ddod i’w casgliadau eu hunain am yr hyn y maent yn ei weld neu’n teimlo o’r cyfansoddiad. Nod fy ngwaith yw darganfod y tensiwn rhwng y lliwiau cyferbyniol a’r rhai sy’n gweddu yn erbyn cefndir di-liw. Mae cyfuno lliwiau cyferbyniol neu rai sy’n gweddu gyda’i gilydd ac aros am y canlyniadau cyfunol yn gyffrous, ac os nad yw’r canlyniadau’n dal digon o batrymau unigryw neu arlliwiau boddhaol mae’r broses yn agored i’w hailadrodd gymaint o weithiau â phosib nes fy mod yn falch gyda’r cynnyrch terfynol. O’u gosod ochr yn ochr rwy’n dewis lliwiau cyferbyniol yn fwriadol i chwarae ar y gweledol. Petaent yn unlliw i gyd, byddai’n rhagweladwy a diflas. Rwyf eisiau i’m gwaith bwysleisio’r ffordd y mae lliw yn ychwanegu bywiogrwydd ac egni i bob amgylchedd a gwrthrych y cymhwysir ef iddo.

My work explores the relationship between a space and the art in it. I have become intrigued by how a painting can effect a space, exploring corporate art, it can be used to influence productivity and creativity in that environment. With influence from Colour Theory,...

I have recently been exploring ideas related to the home and memory, and how they form identity. I am interested in how to defy the imperative to follow a linear structure in personal narrative and instead look for a more honest depiction of memory, which is itself...
