Space Opulence
As a designer I am influenced and inspired by creating clothing that not only empowers the women but evokes the feeling of femininity and confidence, reflecting an element of status and individuality. This is particularly important within my research when comparing clothing of the past, present and future and how for instance the effects of social media has on today’s fashions for young women. The creative patterning and intricate garment construction of my graduate collection echoes my research influences with both the past and the present taken into consideration to create silhouettes shapes with powerful fashion statements, that are emphasised through exaggerated volume in the sleeves, gathers and the juxtaposition of corsetry, focussing on whether shapes like these positively define a women’s figure or not.
Richness and diversity within fabrics and unique textiles explorations, are always at the forefront of my design process, creating newness and originality within surfaces through textile manipulations and developing new techniques. When designing this collection, I developed a unique laser cutting design explored as a placement print within a pearlized metallic luxury pleather, to create unique patterns within the cloth that would wrap around the body creating shades and shadows that play against the contrast of the silk organdie and its sheerness.
The collection is aimed at a high-end luxury consumer market where the essence of quality, uniqueness and individuality are all important to create sensual silhouettes that not only promotes a powerful statement but emphasises a soft and feminine appeal.

Mae patrymau creadigol ac adeiladwaith cywrain dillad fy nghasgliad graddedig yn adleisio fy nylanwadau ymchwil gan gymryd y gorffennol a’r presennol i ystyriaeth i greu siapiau silwét gyda datganiadau ffasiwn pwerus a bwysleisir trwy gyfaint gormodol yn y llewys, y crychau a chyferbwynt y corsedau, gan ganolbwyntio ar ba un a yw’r fath siapiau’n diffinio ffigur menyw mewn ffordd gadarnhaol ai beidio.
Mae moethusrwydd ac amrywiaeth o fewn ffabrigau ac ymchwiliadau i decstilau unigryw bob amser ar flaen fy mhroses ddylunio, gan greu naws newydd a gwreiddiol o fewn arwynebau trwy drin a thrafod tecstilau a datblygu technegau newydd. Wrth ddylunio’r casgliad hwn, datblygais ddyluniad torri â laser unigryw yr ymchwiliwyd iddo fel print lleoli o fewn ‘pleather’ metelaidd moethus perlog, i greu patrymau unigryw o fewn y lliain a fyddai’n lapio o gwmpas y corff gan greu arlliwiau a chysgodion sy’n chwarae yn erbyn cyferbyniad yr organdi sidan a’i lwyrineb.
Anelir y casgliad at farchnad defnyddwyr moethus ar y pen uchaf lle mae hanfodion ansawdd, naws unigryw ac unigol i gyd yn bwysig, gan greu silwetau cnawdol sydd nid yn unig yn hyrwyddo datganiad pwerus ond yn pwysleisio apêl ysgafn a benywaidd.
