BA (Hons) Interior Design

I play with the hierarchy of the senses with materials in my designs. Connecting my inner textile artist with interior design I’m able to shape experiences by using different materials, designing and allowing the materials to communicate their own existence by manipulating the senses through using tactile surfaces, how lights hit and reflect off objects. I understand colour relations to complement my interiors. I bring life into a building, my designs continue to explore biophilia to bring nature into interior design.

I create places for experience by re using existing spaces and achieving a specific environment allowing me to tune projects to clients through the multi sensory designs. I believe each material, piece of furniture, colour and smell have an intended purpose in a space. I provide each design with various textures to explore.

Appreciating existing buildings is fundamental to my design strategy, analysing the host building through diagrams is how I learn how to use a space and create new ideas. The result of my projects bring a unique design with a new environment presented in an existing space with the added value of my own creative design.

Rwy’n chwarae gyda hierarchaeth y synhwyrau gyda’r deunyddiau yn fy nyluniadau. Gan gysylltu fy artist tecstilau mewnol gyda dylunio mewnol gallaf siapio profiadau gan ddefnyddio deunyddiau gwahanol, dylunio a galluogi’r deunyddiau i gyfathrebu eu bodolaeth eu hunain trwy drin a thrafod y synhwyrau gan ddefnyddio arwynebau cyffyrddol, sut mae golau’n taro ac yn adlewyrchu oddi ar arwynebau. Rwy’n deall cysylltiadau rhwng lliwiau i gydweddu â fy nyluniadau mewnol. Rwy’n dod â bywyd i mewn i adeilad, mae fy nyluniadau’n parhau i ymchwilio i fioffilia er mwyn dod â natur i mewn i ddylunio mewnol.

Rwy’n creu lleoedd er mwyn profiad trwy ailddefnyddio gofodau presennol a chyflawni amgylchedd penodol sy’n fy ngalluogi i deilwra prosiectau i gleientiaid trwy’r dyluniadau amlsynhwyraidd. Credaf fod gan bob deunydd, pob darn o ddodrefn, lliw ac arogl ddiben a fwriedir o fewn gofod. Rwy’n darparu gweadau amrywiol i bob dyluniad eu harchwilio.

Mae gwerthfawrogi adeiladau sydd eisoes yn bodoli yn hanfodol i fy strategaeth ddylunio, dadansoddi’r adeilad lletya trwy ddiagramau yw sut rwy’n dysgu sut i ddefnyddio gofod a chreu syniadau newydd. Daw canlyniad fy mhrosiectau â dyluniad unigryw gydag amgylchedd newydd a gyflwynir mewn gofod presennol gyda gwerth ychwanegol fy nyluniad creadigol fy hun.

Unlike some, I cannot say that I always knew Interior Design was the route I was destined to go down. While I have always had a keen eye and a strong love for artistic design, for me, designing a space seemed like more of a hobby rather than a job that I could pursue...

I’m not one for grand philosophical ideas through design that will ultimately end up being someones living or work space. As a designer all I really aspire to do is create something that is of value to the person using that bit of design whether it’s a space or a...

What interior design means to me is creating a space that reaches its purpose’s full potential. Creating a successful interior design is to produce designs that are easily understood, have functionality and have recognisable aesthetics. When approaching an interior...

The intrigue within me in relation to creating inclusive dimensions derives from being well travelled and primarily being in close contact with disabled children. In 2015 I volunteered for an organisation called Allsorts in Stroud, aiming to provide fun activities for...

To me, design is about working with others to find solutions to their problems. It is only by getting onto someone else’s level and experiencing their journey and needs can one create an experience that doesn’t make assumptions. It is how we use design as a tool to...
