I am a maker who strives for innovation and who creates with the aim to bring joy to others. I focus on low-waste, sustainable processes with a preference for hand-tools. I am passionate about being as involved in the process as I can be. I feel the more I am able to touch/manipulate using my hands, the more connected I am with my making. I mostly work with wood, however I often up-cycle, and will use whatever I have available to me. My current practise focuses on traditional woodworking processes and finishes, specifically hand-carving and an exploration into Urushi, a material used in Japanese lacquerware. I hope to display how traditional and sustainable crafting has a place in the 21st century. My project aims to take these ancient techniques and create modern products. I am doing this with the creation of wooden rings, which I hope will rival the unethical precious metal market. My gallery work explores fast-production plastic products and the perversion of labour-intensive methods. These pieces will mimic the appearance of plastic, similarly to how some plastic products aim to mimic more sought-after materials, such as wood.

Rwy’n wneuthurwr sy’n ymdrechu i arloesi ac yn creu gyda’r nod o ddod â llawenydd i eraill. Canolbwyntiaf ar brosesau gwastraff isel a chynaliadwy sy’n ffafrio offer llaw. Rwy’n angerddol dros gymryd rhan yn y broses gymaint ag y gallaf. Mwyaf y gallaf gyffwrdd/trin gan ddefnyddio fy nwylo, y mwyaf cysylltiedig ydw i â’m gwneud. Yr wyf yn gweithio gyda phren yn bennaf, ond yr wyf yn aml yn gwellgylchu, a byddaf yn defnyddio beth bynnag sydd ar gael i mi. Mae fy arfer presennol yn canolbwyntio ar brosesau a gorffeniadau gwaith coed traddodiadol, yn benodol cerfio â llaw ac ymchwilio i Urushi, deunydd a ddefnyddir mewn nwyddau lacr o Japan. Rwy’n gobeithio dangos sut mae lle ar gyfer crefftau traddodiadol a chynaliadwy yn yr 21ain ganrif. Nod fy mhrosiect yw cymryd y technegau hynafol hyn a chreu cynhyrchion modern. Yr wyf yn gwneud hyn drwy greu modrwyon pren, y gobeithiaf y byddant yn cystadlu â’r farchnad metelau gwerthfawr anfoesegol. Mae fy ngwaith oriel yn ymchwilio i gynhyrchion plastig cynhyrchu ar raddfa fawr ac anfoesoldeb dulliau llafurddwys. Bydd y darnau hyn yn dynwared ymddangosiad plastig, yn yr un modd â sut mae rhai cynhyrchion plastig yn ceisio dynwared deunyddiau y dymunir fwy amdanynt, megis pren
