I’m final year Fashion Design student born and raised in the Valleys in South Wales. Interested in conscious design, creating sustainable and timeless garments. Key features in my designs are the use of textiles to claim the cloth; layering free machine embroidery and hand embroidery to create placement patterns making each one of a kind.

Prior to my final year I had worked on both women’s and children’s wear but for my final year I decided to create a collection exclusively for men. This allowed me to grow as a designer as well as experiment with my patterning and push my construction skills.

This collection is inspired by my family heritage and history of the coal mining village of Gilfach Goch, home to my family for countless generations. My great grandfather worked in the Britannic Colliery for most of his life. This inspiration has been carried throughout the collection using many different features, such as heavy durable fabrics denim, corduroy and boiled wool to create layers within each outfit. Each garment has an industrial feel many of which were inspired by historic mining clothing. Another feature of the collection is the copper enamel buttons that I created using previous skills in ceramics.

Rwy’n fyfyriwr Dylunio Ffasiwn blwyddyn olaf a anwyd ac a fagwyd yng Nghymoedd De Cymru. Mae gen i ddiddordeb mewn dylunio ymwybodol, gan greu dillad cynaliadwy ac amserol. Nodweddion allweddol yn fy nyluniadau yw defnyddio tecstilau i hawlio’r berthyn; haenu brodwaith peiriant rhydd a brodwaith llaw i greu patrymau lleoliad gan wneud pob un yn unigryw.

Cyn fy mlwyddyn olaf roeddwn wedi gweithio ar ddillad menywod a phlant ond ar gyfer fy mlwyddyn olaf penderfynais greu casgliad ar gyfer dynion yn unig. Roedd hyn yn fy ngalluogi i dyfu fel dylunydd yn ogystal ag arbrofi gyda’m patrymau a gwthio fy sgiliau adeiladu. Ysbrydolir y casgliad hwn gan dreftadaeth fy nheulu a hanes pentref glofaol Gilfach Goch, sydd wedi bod yn gartref i’m teulu am genedlaethau di-rif. Gweithiodd fy hen dad-cu yng Nglofa Britannic am y rhan fwyaf o’i fywyd.

Cynhaliwyd yr ysbrydoliaeth hon drwy gydol y casgliad gan ddefnyddio llawer o nodweddion gwahanol, megis ffabrigau gwydn trwm, denim, melfaréd a gwlân wedi’i ferwi i greu haenau o fewn pob gwisg. Mae ymdeimlad diwydiannol i bob dilledyn y cafodd llawer ohono ei ysbrydoli gan ddillad mwyngloddio hanesyddol. Nodwedd arall o’r casgliad yw’r botymau enamel copr a greais gan ddefnyddio sgiliau blaenorol mewn cerameg.
