My project was originally inspired by Rebecca Campbell’s oracle deck ‘Work your light’, which displays astonishing celestial and symbolic inspired images that summarise each card (designed by Danielle Noel). The artwork radiates aesthetics of the Divine Feminine, especially with the choice of colours implemented; mostly soft palettes of pinks, purples and blues. Alongside the deck, I wanted to include crystals as they are an eminent tool interrelated to divination. Ultimately, I decided to dive further into crystals while working with the aesthetics of the oracle cards.

Each of my designs is inspired by specific crystals that are influenced by its appearance (the raw minerals with ridged edges and shard-like textures within, contrasting polished stones with smooth surfaces and unique patterns) in addition to its spiritual properties that assist in healing, attracting, protecting etc…and aligns with the 7 chakra points in the body.

My fabric print takes influence from British designer, Richard Weston, who produces prints of precious stones taken at a microscopic level with incredibly high resolution. I was able to obtain small image samples of raw minerals and digitally edited them by overlapping, changing colours, opacity and enhancing features; ultimately inventing an innovative print with embedded crystal influences. Mirroring the pattern also brought an outer-worldly twist that’s quite hypnotic and interesting to the eye.

Ysbrydolwyd fy mhrosiect yn wreiddiol gan ddec oracl Rebecca Campbell ‘Work your light’, sy’n dangos delweddau nefolaidd a symbolaidd syfrdanol sy’n crynhoi pob cerdyn (a gynlluniwyd gan Danielle Noel). Mae’r gwaith celf yn ymbelydredd estheteg o’r Fenyw Ddwyfol, yn enwedig gyda’r dewis o liwiau a weithredir; paledi meddal o binc, porffor a glas yn bennaf. Ochr yn ochr â’r dec, yr oeddwn am gynnwys crisialau gan eu bod yn arf amlwg sy’n gysylltiedig â phroffwydoliaeth. Yn y pen draw, penderfynais blymio ymhellach i grisialau tra’n gweithio gydag estheteg y cardiau oracl.

Ysbrydolir pob un o’m dyluniadau gan grisialau penodol sy’n cael eu dylanwadu gan eu hymddangosiad (y mwynau crai gydag ymylon cribog a gweadau tebyg i siarcod o’u mewn, cerrig cyferbyniol sgleiniog gydag arwynebau llyfn a phatrymau unigryw) yn ogystal â’u priodweddau ysbrydol sy’n helpu i wella, denu, amddiffyn ac ati … ac yn cyd-fynd â’r 7 pwynt chakra yn y corff.

Daw dylanwad fy mhrint ffabrig gan y dylunydd Prydeinig, Richard Weston, sy’n cynhyrchu printiau o gerrig gwerthfawr a gymerwyd ar lefel microsgopig gydag eglurder anhygoel o uchel. Llwyddais i gael samplau delweddau bach o fwynau crai a’u golygu’n ddigidol drwy orgyffwrdd, newid lliwiau, anhryloywder a gwella nodweddion; dyfeisio print arloesol yn y pen draw gyda dylanwadau crisialau wedi’u gwreiddio ynddo. Roedd adlewyrchu’r patrwm hefyd yn dod â throad allanol sy’n eithaf hypnotig a diddorol i’r llygad.
