BA (Hons) Artist Designer Maker

I am a fabric artist who creates collections of home accessories using wool and resin inspired by the colour and pattern of organic life. It’s my aim to display a body of work that captures organic life deteriorating through the use of tactile materials. I believe that the concept of time goes hand in hand with organic life as every living organism eventually deteriorates. I feel it is important to remind people how precious life is. Not only this but how you should take care of the world as the world takes care of you. The circle of life is also an inspiration to my work as it is natures way of taking and giving back life on earth. My work explores the curious relationship that can exist between resin and wool, at once soft and yet rigid. My work shows how my materials have been captured in resin and have transformed to resemble signs of decay. My work is very much hands on and requires repetitive processes such as weaving the wool and applying layers upon layers of resin so that I create a sturdy structure.

Rwy’n artist ffabrigau sy’n creu casgliadau o ategolion i’r cartref drwy ddefnyddio gwlân a resin sydd wedi’u hysbrydoli gan liw a phatrwm y byd organig. Fy nod yw arddangos corff o waith sy’n dal bywyd organig wrth iddo ddirywio drwy ddefnyddio deunyddiau cyffyrddol. Rwy’n credu bod amser yn gysyniad sy’n mynd law yn llaw â’r bywyd organig gan y bydd pob organeb byw yn dirywio maes o law. Rwy’n teimlo ei bod yn bwysig atgoffa pobl mor werthfawr yw bywyd. Ac nid hyn yn unig ond sut dylech ofalu am y byd fel y mae’r byd yn gofalu amdanoch chi. Mae cylch bywyd hefyd yn ysbrydoliaeth ar gyfer fy ngwaith gan mai dyma ffordd natur o roi bywyd ar y ddaear ac o’i dynnu nôl. Mae fy ngwaith yn archwilio’r berthynas ryfedd sy’n gallu bodoli rhwng resin a gwlân, weithiau’n feddal ac weithiau’n anhyblyg. Mae fy ngwaith yn dangos sut mae fy neunyddiau wedi’u dal mewn resin, gan eu trawsnewid gan ymdebygu i arwyddion dirywiad. Mae fy ngwaith yn gofyn fy mod yn ymroi’n ymarferol yn gyson ac yn gofyn prosesau sy’n cael eu hail-adrodd, megis nyddu’r gwlân a rhoi haen ar ôl haen o resin fel y byddaf yn creu darn cadarn.
