Distortion, the Organic World

‘Distortion: the organic world’ is a series of sculptural furniture pieces for contemporary domestic interiors. The pieces were designed by merging the inherent beauty of the organic world with geometric forms. Here, natural structures are distorted and seemingly absorbed by the functionality of geometric shapes.  While radically simplifying the natural form, it also mimics the contours found in the organic object.
This project aims to unite and blur the lines between formalist sculpture and functional design, bringing schematic visual language from two separate genres together to create domestic sculptural objects.

Similarly, the production process merges the realms of digital and physical, as well as traditional and contemporary making and manufacturing processes.  This collection brings together digital fabrication processes such as 3d scanning, computer aided design, digital manipulation and CNC router cutting with traditional wood working joinery techniques.

Afluniad, y Byd Organig

‘Afluniad: y byd organig’ yw cyfres o ddarnau dodrefn cerfluniol i’w defnyddio y tu mewn i gartrefi cyfoes. Dyluniwyd y darnau trwy gyfuno prydferthwch cynhenid y byd organig gyda ffurfiau geometrig.     Yma, caiff adeileddau naturiol eu haflunio, ac i bob ymddangosiad, eu hamsugno gan weithrediad siapiau geometrig. Yn ogystal â symleiddio’r ffurf naturiol yn radicalaidd, mae hefyd yn dynwared y cyfuchlinellau a geir yn y gwrthrych organig.

Mae’r prosiect yn anelu at gyfuno a phylu’r llinellau rhwng cerfluniaeth ffurfiolaidd a dylunio gweithredol, gan ddod ag iaith weledol sgematig o ddau genre gwahanol ynghyd i greu gwrthrychau cerfluniol domestig.

Yn yr un modd, mae’r broses gynhyrchu’n cyfuno’r parthau digidol a diriaethol, yn ogystal â phrosesau creu a gweithgynhyrchu traddodiadol a chyfoes. Daw’r casgliad hwn â phrosesau gweithgynhyrchu digidol megis sganio 3d, dylunio â chymorth cyfrifiadur a thorri â phlaen cafnu CNC ynghyd â thechnegau gwaith asiedydd traddodiadol.
