BA (Hons) Interior Design

I believe that as an Interior Designer, my responsibility is to carefully construct and create spaces that are aesthetically pleasing, whilst being practical and realistic to help meet the needs of the end user. The constant learning and improving of my knowledge is portrayed in my designs and progression. Architecture has always played a massive part in my love for design. I believe that each architectural building tells a story, which can be reflected within the interior.

For my dissertation, I researched the effects of colour theory within our workspaces. Although I knew a bit about colour theory previously, this has since broadened my mind to show how different colours can influence different emotions, thoughts and feelings on an individual. The research I have conducted has also allowed me to see how I can use this in my designs to get the most out of each space that is created. This has influenced how I have approached my final major project and an external project that I have been working on for the last 18 months.

The feeling of excitement I get when I start a new project, and understand the brief is one of the reasons why I chose this career path. The success of an Interior Designer is measured by the response to their work, inspiring and influencing others. Following this approach can help me try and achieve the best I can be.

Fel Dylunydd Mewnol, credaf ei fod yn gyfrifoldeb arnaf i adeiladu a chreu gofodau’n ofalus sy’n ddymunol yn esthetig, ac ar yr un pryd yn ymarferol ac yn realistig er mwyn helpu diwallu anghenion y defnyddiwr terfynol. Portreadir dysgu a gwella fy ngwybodaeth yn gyson yn fy nyluniadau a fy nghynnydd. Mae pensaernïaeth bob amser wedi chwarae rhan fawr yn fy nghariad at ddylunio. Credaf fod pob adeilad pensaernïol yn adrodd stori a all gael ei hadrodd y tu mewn iddo.

Ar gyfer fy nhraethawd hir, ymchwiliais i effeithiau damcaniaeth lliw o fewn ein gofodau gwaith. Er i mi wybod ychydig am ddamcaniaeth lliw yn flaenorol, mae hyn wedi ehangu fy meddwl i ddangos sut y gall lliwiau gwahanol ddylanwadu ar emosiynau, meddyliau a theimladau gwahanol unigolyn. Mae’r ymchwil yr wyf wedi’i chynnal wedi fy ngalluogi hefyd i weld sut y gallaf ddefnyddio hyn yn fy nyluniadau i fanteisio i’r eithaf ar bob gofod sy’n cael ei greu. Mae hyn wedi dylanwadu ar sut yr wyf wedi mynd ati gyda fy mhrif brosiect terfynol a phrosiect allanol yr wyf wedi gweithio arno dros y 18 mis diwethaf.

Mae’r teimlad o gyffro a gaf pan ddechreuaf ar brosiect newydd ac yn deall y brîff yn un o’r rhesymau pan y dewisais y llwybr gyrfa hwn. Mesurir llwyddiant dylunydd mewnol trwy’r ymateb i’w waith, gan ysbrydoli a dylanwadu ar eraill. Gall dilyn y dull hwn fy helpu ceisio cyflawni’r gorau y gallaf.

My interest in creating pleasant spaces goes back to my childhood and my family background. I am the daughter of an Iranian architect, who is full of taste and motivation to create and design better surroundings. I look at everything differently and try to set a new...

Unlike some, I cannot say that I always knew Interior Design was the route I was destined to go down. While I have always had a keen eye and a strong love for artistic design, for me, designing a space seemed like more of a hobby rather than a job that I could pursue...

I’m not one for grand philosophical ideas through design that will ultimately end up being someones living or work space. As a designer all I really aspire to do is create something that is of value to the person using that bit of design whether it’s a space or a...

What interior design means to me is creating a space that reaches its purpose’s full potential. Creating a successful interior design is to produce designs that are easily understood, have functionality and have recognisable aesthetics. When approaching an interior...

The intrigue within me in relation to creating inclusive dimensions derives from being well travelled and primarily being in close contact with disabled children. In 2015 I volunteered for an organisation called Allsorts in Stroud, aiming to provide fun activities for...

To me, design is about working with others to find solutions to their problems. It is only by getting onto someone else’s level and experiencing their journey and needs can one create an experience that doesn’t make assumptions. It is how we use design as a tool to...
