BA (Hons) Interior Design

When I was a child I was aware of the difference between me and other kids as much as they loved to play with a variety of dolls or run around and chase each other, I was always looking forward to playing with my logos to build a castle, a skyscraper or a house, my other hobby was to open up my dollhouses and change the interior into a better layout. I think this interest grew up step by step and improved in a shape of a passion for interior design.

Even when I chose chemistry as my major in university I double majored in interior design as well. I worked extremely hard to excel in both areas and combine them to stay creative and scientific at the same time. I use chemistry to create new sustainable and stylish materials, colours and fabrics. I have brought this attitude to both my academic and professional projects.

After my degree, I think I am ready to start practicing my knowledge and develop related skills that help me to reach my potential and prepare me for my next stage which is working in a high ranked company such as Google. However, I am planning to continue my education till PhD and be able to join a suitable academic centre as a lecturer.

Pan oeddwn i’n blentyn roeddwn i’n ymwybodol o’r gwahaniaeth rhyngof i a phlant eraill i’r graddau yr oedden nhw wrth eu bodd yn chwarae gyda gwahanol ddoliau neu redeg o gwmpas a rhedeg ar ôl ei gilydd. Roeddwn i’n edrych ymlaen bob amser at chwarae gyda fy lego i adeiladu castell, tŵr uchel neu dŷ. Fy hobi arall oedd agor fy nhŷ dol a gwella’r tu mewn trwy newid ei gynllun. Rwy’n credu bod y diddordeb hwn wedi tyfu fesul cam ac wedi gwella ar ffurf angerdd am ddylunio mewnol.

Hyd yn oed pan ddewisais i gemeg fel fy mhrif bwnc yn y brifysgol, fe wnes i radd ddwbl mewn dylunio mewnol hefyd. Fe wnes i weithio’n galed iawn i ragori yn y ddau faes a’u cyfuno i aros yn greadigol ac yn wyddonol ar yr un pryd. Rwy’n defnyddio cemeg i greu deunyddiau, lliwiau a ffabrigau cynaliadwy a chwaethus newydd. Rydw i wedi dod â’r agwedd hon i’m prosiectau academaidd a phroffesiynol.

Ar ôl fy ngradd, rwy’n credu fy mod i’n barod i ddechrau ymarfer fy ngwybodaeth a datblygu sgiliau cysylltiedig sy’n fy helpu i gyrraedd fy mhotensial a’m paratoi ar gyfer fy ngham nesaf sef gweithio mewn cwmni uchel ei barch fel Google. Fodd bynnag, rwy’n bwriadu parhau â’m haddysg ar lefel PhD ac am gallu ymuno â chanolfan academaidd addas fel darlithydd.

Unlike some, I cannot say that I always knew Interior Design was the route I was destined to go down. While I have always had a keen eye and a strong love for artistic design, for me, designing a space seemed like more of a hobby rather than a job that I could pursue...

I’m not one for grand philosophical ideas through design that will ultimately end up being someones living or work space. As a designer all I really aspire to do is create something that is of value to the person using that bit of design whether it’s a space or a...

What interior design means to me is creating a space that reaches its purpose’s full potential. Creating a successful interior design is to produce designs that are easily understood, have functionality and have recognisable aesthetics. When approaching an interior...

The intrigue within me in relation to creating inclusive dimensions derives from being well travelled and primarily being in close contact with disabled children. In 2015 I volunteered for an organisation called Allsorts in Stroud, aiming to provide fun activities for...

To me, design is about working with others to find solutions to their problems. It is only by getting onto someone else’s level and experiencing their journey and needs can one create an experience that doesn’t make assumptions. It is how we use design as a tool to...
