Friars Point development is a mixed-use scheme of luxury apartments and work units located on the coastal front of Barry, South Wales. The immense location is at the core of this design, coordinating a strong ethos of sustainability and functionality. The surrounding coastal views are taken full advantage of with the use of glazing and communal open-air terraces. The building consists of; high-end residential suites that open out onto the neighbouring oceans and beyond. A working environment that fulfils functionality whilst ensuring a strong focus on health and well-being, through Biophilic Design.

Due to the nature of the development’s location, an environmentally friendly approach is considered throughout the design and latter construction process. The building’s aesthetics follow a collaborative theme of futuristic, whilst linking the rich heritage of Wales’ industries. From afar the building almost disguises itself amongst the beauty of its surroundings, with mirror-like facades. Whilst achieving a statement-like architecture as you approach the building. This provides a pull for residents and business interests.

The technologies of the building hold sustainability at its core, with a hybrid relationship of steel and concrete throughout the entire structure. This ensures a strong-lasting building that meets all requirements and ultimately achieves buildability.

Mae datblygiad Trwyn y Brodyr yn gynllun defnydd cymysg o fflatiau moethus ac unedau gwaith sydd wedi’i leoli ar arfordir y Barri. Mae’r lleoliad aruthrol wrth wraidd y dyluniad hwn, gan gydlynu ethos cryf o gynaliadwyedd ac ymarferoldeb. Manteisir yn llawn ar y golygfeydd arfordirol cyfagos drwy ddefnyddio gwydr a therasau awyr agored cymunedol. Mae’r adeilad yn cynnwys preswylfeydd o’r safon uchaf sy’n edrych allan dros y môr cyfagos a phellach, ac amgylchedd gwaith sy’n cyfuno ymarferoldeb a ffocws cryf ar iechyd a llesiant, drwy Ddylunio Bioffilig.

Oherwydd natur lleoliad y datblygiad, ystyrir dull ecogyfeillgar drwy gydol y broses ddylunio ac ymlaen i’r broses adeiladu. Mae estheteg yr adeilad yn cwmpasu thema ddyfodolaidd, tra’n cofleidio treftadaeth gyfoethog diwydiannau Cymru. O bell, mae’r adeilad bron ynghudd yn harddwch ei amgylchedd, gydag arwynebeddau tebyg i ddrych, ond mae’r bensaernïaeth yn gwneud datganiad wrth i chi agosáu at yr adeilad. Mae hyn yn denu preswylwyr a busnesau fel ei gilydd.

Mae cynaliadwyedd yn greiddiol i dechnolegau’r adeilad, gyda pherthynas hybrid o ddur a choncrit drwy’r strwythur cyfan. Mae hyn yn sicrhau adeilad hirhoedlog sy’n bodloni’r holl ofynion ac sydd, yn y pen draw, yn syml i’w adeiladu.
