The genre of photography that I’m drawn to is landscape, and have always been interested in the unique Welsh culture and history. My current project’s aim is to create a collection of landscape images that will help develop an understanding, respect and appreciation of these values.
My images document and explore Welsh heritage landscapes, particularly those that leave traces from the early Pagan community. I aim to inspire and encourage new conversations about the history of Wales using both documentary style images and more experimental Cyanotype prints.
My project called ‘Pagan Paths leading to Ancient Historical Welsh Landscapes’, will be in the format of an A5 book of monochrome documentary style photographs of the various locations I have visited which links our Pagan past. Alongside this a series of Cyanotypes merge landscape and objects to signify and reveal the history and remnants of Pagan culture, using the symbolic elements of nature, captured within ancient historical Welsh landscape imagery.
My next exhibition will take place at Pontypridd Museum, date TBC.
Mae’r genre ffotograffiaeth yr wyf wedi fy nenu ganddo yw tirwedd, ac rwyf bob amser wedi bod â diddordeb yn niwylliant a hanes unigryw Cymru. Nod fy mhrosiect cyfredol yw creu casgliad o ddelweddau tirwedd a fydd yn helpu datblygu dealltwriaeth, parch a gwerthfawrogiad at y gwerthoedd hyn.
Mae fy nelweddau’n dogfennu ac yn archwilio tirweddau treftadaeth Cymru, yn enwedig y rhai sydd ag olion y gymuned Baganaidd gynnar. Rwy’n ceisio ysbrydoli ac annog sgyrsiau newydd am hanes Cymru, gan ddefnyddio delweddau yn null rhaglen ddogfen a phrintiau Syanodeip mwy arbrofol.
Bydd fy mhrosiect o’r enw ‘Pagan Paths leading to Ancient Historical Welsh Landscapes’, mewn fformat llyfr A5 o ffotograffau monocrom yn null rhaglen ddogfen o’r amryw leoliadau yr wyf wedi ymweld â nhw sy’n cysylltu â’n gorffennol Paganaidd. Ochr yn ochr â hyn mae cyfres o Syanodeipiau’n cyfuno tirwedd a gwrthrychau i arwyddocáu a datgelu hanes ac olion diwylliant Paganaidd, gan ddefnyddio elfennau symbolaidd natur a gofnodwyd o fewn delweddaeth tirwedd Cymru hynafol a hanesyddol.
