BA (Hons) Interior Design

Mental and physical health have always had an influence on my life and my decision making. I believe that these aspects have continued to influence me throughout my design work. In my opinion the design of an interior space needs to equally consider the well-being of the occupant and how user-friendly it is, as well as how aesthetically pleasing it is based on the clients brief. This belief is what drives my design decisions and my passion for designing spaces for others. The balance between aesthetics and functionality within interior design in my opinion is crucial. As well as this I believe that environmental considerations and the sustainability of my designs have become a prominent feature in my work. I always strive to increase the sustainability of my designs through cleverly applying natural light to the space and by considering the materials chosen for the space. These influences in my opinion have shaped my designs and have provided my work with a personal drive and a purpose.

Mae iechyd meddwl a chorfforol wedi dylanwadu ar fy mywyd a’m penderfyniadau erioed. Rwy’n credu bod yr agweddau hyn wedi parhau i ddylanwadu arnaf drwy gydol fy ngwaith dylunio. Yn fy marn i, mae angen i ddyluniad gofod mewnol ystyried lles y meddiannydd a pha mor hawdd yw’r gofod i’w ddefnyddio, yn ogystal â pha mor ddymunol yn esthetaidd ydyw yn seiliedig ar friff y cleient. Y gred hon yw’r hyn sy’n llywio fy mhenderfyniadau dylunio a’m hangerdd dros gynllunio gofodau ar gyfer eraill. Yn fy marn i, mae’r cydbwysedd rhwng estheteg ac ymarferoldeb mewn dylunio mewnol yn hollbwysig. Yn ogystal â hyn, rwy’n credu bod ystyriaethau amgylcheddol a chynaliadwyedd fy nyluniadau wedi dod yn nodwedd amlwg yn fy ngwaith. Rwy’n ymdrechu bob amser i gynyddu cynaliadwyedd fy nyluniadau drwy gymhwyso golau naturiol i’r gofod yn ddeheuig a thrwy ystyried y deunyddiau a ddewisir ar gyfer y gofod. Yn fy marn i mae’r dylanwadau hyn wedi siapio fy nyluniadau ac wedi rhoi sbardun a phwrpas personol i’m gwaith.

Unlike some, I cannot say that I always knew Interior Design was the route I was destined to go down. While I have always had a keen eye and a strong love for artistic design, for me, designing a space seemed like more of a hobby rather than a job that I could pursue...

I’m not one for grand philosophical ideas through design that will ultimately end up being someones living or work space. As a designer all I really aspire to do is create something that is of value to the person using that bit of design whether it’s a space or a...

What interior design means to me is creating a space that reaches its purpose’s full potential. Creating a successful interior design is to produce designs that are easily understood, have functionality and have recognisable aesthetics. When approaching an interior...

The intrigue within me in relation to creating inclusive dimensions derives from being well travelled and primarily being in close contact with disabled children. In 2015 I volunteered for an organisation called Allsorts in Stroud, aiming to provide fun activities for...

To me, design is about working with others to find solutions to their problems. It is only by getting onto someone else’s level and experiencing their journey and needs can one create an experience that doesn’t make assumptions. It is how we use design as a tool to...
