Megan Herron

BA (Hons) Illustration

My work seeks to explore and reflect upon my own thoughts and feelings about myself and the world around me. I use the artwork I create to better understanding and break down the barriers and stigmatism that comes along with mental health struggles and being a neurodivergent person in today’s society. I chose to focus on my own personal struggles, highlighting where and when key aspects such as my dyslexia, autism, or mental health affected me the most. I aim to normalize these daily struggles and help more people to understand that there is nothing wrong with struggling or fitting outside of societal norms.

I am of the belief that more representation is needed for people such as myself, and I hope my work can encourage and inspire other young creatives to become the representation they want to see in the world.

Mae fy ngwaith yn ceisio archwilio a myfyrio ar fy meddyliau a’m teimladau fy hun amdanaf fi a’r byd o’m cwmpas. Rwy’n defnyddio’r gwaith celf Rwy’n ei greu i ddeall a chwalu’r rhwystrau a’r stigma a ddaw gyda thrafferthion iechyd meddwl a bod yn berson niwroamrywiol yn ein cymdeithas ni heddiw. Dewisais ganolbwyntio ar fy mrwydrau personol fy hun, gan dynnu sylw at ble a phryd yr oedd agweddau allweddol fel fy nyslecsia, awtistiaeth, neu iechyd meddwl yn effeithio fwyaf arna i. Fy nod yw normaleiddio’r trafferthion dyddiol hyn a helpu mwy o bobl i ddeall nad oes dim o’i le ar frwydro neu fod y tu allan i normau cymdeithasol.

Rwy’n credu bod angen mwy o gynrychiolaeth ar bobl fel fi, a gobeithio y gall fy ngwaith annog ac ysbrydoli pobl ifanc greadigol eraill i fod y gynrychiolaeth y maen nhw am ei gweld yn y byd.
