Hand built decorative abstract sculptures in varying sizes and scales, exploring the idea of growth and nature though organic forms. The artists sensory relationship with the process and material is important conceptually as the impact on the sculpture is evident in the uniqueness of each form. Highlighting the journey taken in the process the traditional Japanese Wabi Sabi aesthetic celebrates the imperfections and individuality these hand-built sculptures represent as no two are the same. Personification of the forms brings the inanimate sculptures to life, using movement and growth to show the liveliness given to the clay. Mark making for the addition of surface texture further emphasizes the artists impact on the forms throughout the process and introduces the sculptures as a tactile figure. With the addition of a varying range of layered coloured decorative slip on the surface each sculpture is exclusive, yet still work together as a collective forming a sculptural forest.
