BA (Hons) Interior Design

My intention is to create spaces that provide an appropriate and fitted atmosphere for its concept.

I believed an interior space must be able to create atmosphere and emotion to the users and to be in a position to reveal the background culture through its design. This can allow people to be into the environment or space more easily. I also consider the interaction between the objects, space, and the users as this is how the users communicate with the environment. As I believed a well-designed interior space should provide perceptions and convey its meanings through space and objects.

The background culture will always be my starting point. Understanding the culture help to create an appropriate design concept, such as knowing what type of material is most suitable or how a space might look like. I also think a piece of fundamental furniture will form the design style stronger. I pay great attention to the colour of materials and the light specifically as I believe they can make up and affect the whole atmosphere of a space, which then also affects the emotion of people.

Fy mwriad yw creu gofodau sy’n darparu awyrgylch priodol a gweddus ar gyfer eu cysyniad.

Credais fod yn rhaid i ofod mewnol fedru creu awyrgylch ac emosiwn ar gyfer y defnyddwyr a’u bod mewn safle i ddatgelu’r diwylliant cefndir trwy gydol ei ddyluniad. Gall hyn alluogi pobl i fod yn yr amgylchedd neu ofod yn fwy hwylus. Rwy’n ystyried y rhyngweithio rhwng y gwrthrychau, gofod a’r defnyddwyr hefyd gan mai dyma sut mae’r defnyddwyr yn cyfathrebu â’r amgylchedd. Gan y credais y dylai gofod mewnol a ddylunnir yn dda ddarparu canfyddiadau a chyfle ei ystyron trwy ofod a gwrthrychau.

Y diwylliant cefndir fydd fy man cychwyn bob amser. Mae deall y diwylliant yn helpu creu dyluniad priodol, megis gwybod pa fath o ddeunyddiau sy’n fwyaf addas neu sut y gallai gofod edrych. Rwy’n credu hefyd y bydd darn o ddodrefn hanfodol yn gwneud ffurf y dyluniad yn gryfach. Rwy’n rhoi sylw mawr i liw deunyddiau a’r golau yn benodol gan y credaf y gallant gyfansoddi ac effeithio ar awyrgylch cyfan y gofod, sydd wedyn yn effeithio ar emosiynau pobl hefyd.

Unlike some, I cannot say that I always knew Interior Design was the route I was destined to go down. While I have always had a keen eye and a strong love for artistic design, for me, designing a space seemed like more of a hobby rather than a job that I could pursue...

I’m not one for grand philosophical ideas through design that will ultimately end up being someones living or work space. As a designer all I really aspire to do is create something that is of value to the person using that bit of design whether it’s a space or a...

The intrigue within me in relation to creating inclusive dimensions derives from being well travelled and primarily being in close contact with disabled children. In 2015 I volunteered for an organisation called Allsorts in Stroud, aiming to provide fun activities for...

To me, design is about working with others to find solutions to their problems. It is only by getting onto someone else’s level and experiencing their journey and needs can one create an experience that doesn’t make assumptions. It is how we use design as a tool to...
