These pieces are a series of porcelain cubes that take inspiration from architecture; city skylines and architectural drawings, with their neat squares and cubes, linking back to the cube as an aesthetically pleasing form in its own right: one of the five Platonic solids.

These pieces work in the intersection of ceramics, architecture, and interior design, to utilise & enhance human spaces in an optimistic way. They use handmade cubes, inside buildings and spaces which are traditionally built to be perfect. Although cubes are traditionally seen as sublime in their perfection, the handmade quality of these pieces, with their slight imperfections of shape, softened edges, and expressive glazes, have an affinity with the human experience. 

The glazed surfaces are expressive, allowing personal interpretation, whilst being sympathetic to the surroundings. Use of several glazes allows for a rich depth of colour. Each piece is individually mounted, making the final configuration flexible: they can either be arranged in the composition suggested, or moved around to personal taste.

This work uses 3-dimensional  forms on walls, incorporating sculptural aspects to enhance the space. The fall of light and therefore the shadows created by the forms thus become incorporated into the work,  as well as the surface texture and colour. The 3-dimensional aspect allows the work to have different facets depending on viewpoint, as if in a city of skyscrapers, with the view changing with position, thus engaging curiosity.

Mae’r darnau hyn yn gweithio trwy groestoriad cerameg, pensaernïaeth a dylunio mewnol i ddefnyddio a gwella gofodau dynol mewn ffordd optimistaidd. Maent yn defnyddio ciwbiau o waith llaw, y tu mewn i adeiladau a gofodau sydd wedi’u hadeiladu i fod yn berffaith yn draddodiadol. Er yr ystyrir yn draddodiadol bod ciwbiau’n arddunol yn eu perffeithrwydd, mae gan ansawdd gwaith llaw y darnau hyn, gyda’u hamherffeithrwydd bach o ran siâp, ymylon wedi’u meddalu, a gwydreddau llawn mynegiad, affinedd â’r profiad dynol.

Mae’r arwynebau gwydrog yn llawn mynegiad, gan alluogi dehongliad personol a dangos cydymdeimlad â’r amgylchyniadau. Mae defnyddio nifer o wydreddau’n caniatáu dyfnder lliw ysblennydd. Mae pob darn wedi’i osod yn unigol, gan wneud y cyfluniad terfynol yn hyblyg: gellir eu trefnu naill ai yn y cyfansoddiad a awgrymwyd, neu eu symud o gwmpas yn unol â chwaeth bersonol.

Mae’r gwaith hwn yn defnyddio ffurfiau tri dimensiwn ar waliau, gan ymgorffori agweddau cerfluniol i fwyhau’r gofod. Felly, mae syrthiad y golau ac felly y cysgodion a grëir gan y ffurfiau’n mynd yn rhan annatod o’r gwaith, yn ogystal â’r arwyneb, y gwead a’r lliw. Mae’r agwedd tri dimensiwn yn galluogi i’r gwaith feddu ar nodweddion penodol gan ddibynnu ar y safbwynt, megis mewn dinas o nendyrau gyda’r olygfa’n newid yn unol â safle, gan ennyn chwilfrydedd.
