My Graduate collection used inspiration from aboriginals.Taking inspiration from aboriginal art by Jasmine Coe, an exhibition I attended in Stroud. This influence gave an immediate aesthetic appeal, however I have also been keen to use cultural elements from this to give my collection depth. This is significant to me as a designer and to influence industry with themes of slow fashion. The culture’s focus is on Mother Earth, the appreciation for the circle of life and natural resources.

Using craft manipulation of felting, knitting and macrame to show these values of preciousness within clothing, encouraging visual mending and repurposing materials. By reusing hand knitted squares donated to me and material from cushions to produce my child’s winter collection. This gave me passion to problem solve, by creating a collection that is fun, texturally interesting and made with meaning. My personal design approach is textile exploration, telling a story with materials, this is something I want to explore further creating my own print designs.

Defnyddiodd fy nghasgliad graddedig ysbrydoliaeth o’r diwylliant cynfrodorol. Gan gymryd ysbrydoliaeth o gelfyddyd gynfrodorol gan Jasmine Coe, arddangosfa a fynychais yn Stroud. Rhoddodd y dylanwad hwn apêl esthetig yn syth, fodd bynnag rwyf hefyd wedi bod yn awyddus i ddefnyddio elfennau diwylliannol o’r hyn o beth i roi dyfnder i fy nghasgliad. Mae hyn yn arwyddocaol i mi fel dylunydd ac o ran dylanwadu ar ddiwydiant gyda themâu ffasiwn araf. Ffocws y diwylliant yw’r Fam Ddaear, gwerthfawrogiad o’r cylch bywyd ac adnoddau naturiol.

Gan ddefnyddio trin a thrafod crefftau ffeltio, gwau a macramé i ddangos y gwerthoedd gwerthfawredd hyn o fewn dillad, gan annog trwsio gweledol ac ailddefnyddio deunyddiau. Trwy ailddefnyddio sgwariau a gwëwyd â llaw a roddwyd i mi a deunyddiau o glustogau i gynhyrchu fy nghasgliad plant ar gyfer y gaeaf. Rhoddodd hwn angerdd i mi ddatrys problemau, trwy greu casgliad sy’n hwyl yn ddiddorol yn weadeddol ac wedi’i greu gyda phwrpas. Fy null dylunio personol yw ymchwilio i decstilau, gan adrodd storïau trwy ddeunyddiau, dyma rywbeth yr wyf eisiau ymchwilio ymhellach iddo trwy greu fy nyluniadau print fy hun.
