BA (Hons) Interior Design

I have had an passion for interior design, ever since I was young. I have always identified potential to enhance or compose the appearance and usability of spaces visually. My passion for interior design started while always wanting to change the design of my bedroom over and over again, with new furnishings and styles. I have pursued this further throughout my education, from secondary school to college. At the hand of this, I decided to study a degree in this field at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

I found my time, studying a BA(Hons) Degree in Interior Design at Cardiff Metropolitan University, very valuable and it has expanded my knowledge substantially. Over the 3-year period of obtaining my degree I have been introduced to an extensive range of methods, topics and sources. This has shaped me to becoming a junior interior designer that focuses on objects and their relationships with space. Composing, visualising and simulating exclusive settings whilst adhering to both singular and collaborative briefs.

Studying my degree has led me to have had the opportunity to individually research into Neurodiversity.I created my work by using the skills I have developed within my discipline, such as using technical skills, including CAD, Adobe Photoshop, model-making skills and Sketch Up Pro. These skills will follow with me on to a postgraduate course and will allow opportunity for growth and development.

Rydw i wedi bod ag angerdd parhaus dros ddylunio mewnol, byth ers pan oeddwn i’n ifanc. Erioed, rydw i wedi nodi potensial i wella neu lunio ymddangosiad a defnyddioldeb mannau’n weledol. Dechreuodd fy angerdd dros ddylunio mewnol pan oeddwn i’n wastad eisiau newid dyluniad fy ystafell wely dro ar ôl tro, gyda dodrefn ac arddulliau newydd. Rydw i wedi canlyn hyn ymhellach trwy gydol fy addysg, o’r ysgol uwchradd i’r coleg. Oherwydd hyn, penderfynais astudio gradd yn y maes hwn ym Mhrifysgol Metropolitan Caerdydd.

Roedd fy amser yn astudio Gradd BA (Anrh) mewn Dylunio Mewnol ym Mhrifysgol Metropolitan Caerdydd yn werthfawr iawn ac mae wedi ehangu fy ngwybodaeth yn sylweddol. Dros y cyfnod o 3 blynedd i ennill fy ngradd, cefais fy nghyflwyno i ystod eang o ddulliau, pynciau a ffynonellau. Mae hyn wedi fy ffurfio’n ddylunydd mewnol iau sy’n canolbwyntio ar wrthrychau a’u perthnasedd â gofod. Llunio, delweddu ac efelychu lleoliadau dethol wrth gadw at friffiau unigol a chydweithredol.

Drwy astudio fy ngradd, cefais fy arwain at gyfle i ymchwilio’n unigol i Niwro-amrywiaeth. Fe wnes i greu fy ngwaith trwy ddefnyddio’r sgiliau rydw i wedi’u datblygu o fewn fy nisgyblaeth, megis defnyddio sgiliau technegol, gan gynnwys CAD, Adobe Photoshop, sgiliau gwneud modelau a Sketch Up Pro. Byddaf yn dwyn y sgiliau hyn gyda mi ar gwrs ôl-raddedig a byddant yn caniatáu cyfle i dyfu a datblygu.

Unlike some, I cannot say that I always knew Interior Design was the route I was destined to go down. While I have always had a keen eye and a strong love for artistic design, for me, designing a space seemed like more of a hobby rather than a job that I could pursue...

I’m not one for grand philosophical ideas through design that will ultimately end up being someones living or work space. As a designer all I really aspire to do is create something that is of value to the person using that bit of design whether it’s a space or a...

What interior design means to me is creating a space that reaches its purpose’s full potential. Creating a successful interior design is to produce designs that are easily understood, have functionality and have recognisable aesthetics. When approaching an interior...

The intrigue within me in relation to creating inclusive dimensions derives from being well travelled and primarily being in close contact with disabled children. In 2015 I volunteered for an organisation called Allsorts in Stroud, aiming to provide fun activities for...

To me, design is about working with others to find solutions to their problems. It is only by getting onto someone else’s level and experiencing their journey and needs can one create an experience that doesn’t make assumptions. It is how we use design as a tool to...
