My work started with the idea of traces, I wanted to experiment with what is left behind. After developing the idea I focused on environmental traces looking how the natural traces are being disturbed by human traces. Developing a series of weavings that show how plastic is impacted on the earths natural landscapes. Working with the idea of the anthropocene where the human impact is the reason for environmental change. In these pieces I wanted to display the journey of how things have developed and keep getting worse and so throughout the pieces the plastic becomes more apparent. I hope this piece helps people to consider the natural environment and how it effected by waste and plastic that we create. When creating the pieces I aimed to be aware of the materials that I was using. The plastic within the pieces has been gathered by me from local businesses that create a lot of waste through their practice with packaging of products that they use. I aim for my art to encourage and inspire people, to look at their traces and what they will leave behind and the impact that they have on the environment.

Dechreuodd fy ngwaith gyda’r syniad o olion; roeddwn i eisiau arbrofi gyda’r hyn sy’n cael ei adael ar ôl. Wedi i mi ddatblygu’r syniad, canolbwyntiais ar olion amgylcheddol, gan fwrw golwg ar y ffordd y mae olion dynol yn tarfu ar olion naturiol. Datblygu cyfres o wehyddiadau’n dangos sut mae plastig yn effeithio ar dirweddau naturiol y ddaear. Gweithio gyda syniad yr anthroposen, lle effaith dyn yw’r rheswm dros newid amgylcheddol. Yn y darnau hyn, roeddwn am ddangos taith datblygiad gwrthrychau a’r ffordd y mae pethau’n mynd yn waeth ac yn waeth, felly fesul pob darn, daw’r plastig yn fwy amlwg. Gobeithio bydd y gwaith hwn yn helpu pobl i ystyried byd natur ac effaith y gwastraff a’r plastig a grëwn arno. Wrth greu’r darnau, ceisiais fod yn ymwybodol o’r deunyddiau a ddefnyddiwn. Casglais y plastig yn y darnau oddi wrth fusnesau lleol sy’n creu llawer o wastraff trwy eu gwaith gyda deunydd pecynnu’r cynhyrchion a ddefnyddiant. Fy nod yw i’m gwaith celf annog ac ysbrydoli pobl, i edrych ar eu holion a beth fyddant yn ei adael ar eu hôl a’u heffaith ar yr amgylchedd.
