Our society is constantly changing. The way we think of the people around us has become more accepting. But it was not always like this.

I utilise narration and playful story telling through image-making to address audiences. I primarily use printmaking and apply other medias where appropriate.

I want my work to be enjoyed by the audience, and for it to inform and inspire them. Through my work, I hope to bring new audiences to texts that, in our modern society, get overlooked for being outdated. Many older texts discuss themes and topics that are still highly relevant to today’s society. I hope to help audiences to understand these topics more through my depictions of these texts.

My recent work illustrates three texts that explore themes of gender, subversion of heterosexual normativity, and identity. The aim for my research was to ask questions surrounding issues of lingering social attitudes within the collective cultural consciousness. The images themselves reveal key fragments of the plot which forces the viewer to immerse themselves fully in the text. What these works reveal is a fundamental framework from which we may understand the ideological shifts unfolding throughout the four decades of my specific interest; such frameworks allow us to question our understanding of society, and ultimately ourselves.

Mae ein cymdeithas yn newid yn gyson. Mae’r ffordd rydym ni’n meddwl am y bobl o’n cwmpas wedi dod yn fwy derbyngar. Ond nid felly oedd hi bob amser.

Rwy’n defnyddio hanesion ac adrodd straeon chwareus drwy greu delweddau i gyfarch cynulleidfaoedd. Rwy’n defnyddio gwneud printiau’n bennaf ac yn defnyddio cyfryngau eraill lle bo hynny’n briodol.

Rydw i am i’m gwaith gael ei fwynhau gan y gynulleidfa, ac iddo eu goleuo a’u hysbrydoli nhw. Drwy fy ngwaith, rwy’n gobeithio cyflwyno cynulleidfaoedd newydd i destunau sydd, yn ein cymdeithas fodern, yn cael eu hanwybyddu am fod yn hen ffasiwn. Mae llawer o destunau hŷn yn trafod themâu a phynciau sy’n dal i fod yn berthnasol iawn i gymdeithas heddiw. Rwy’n gobeithio helpu cynulleidfaoedd i ddeall y pynciau hyn yn well drwy fy mhortreadau o’r testunau hyn.

Mae fy ngwaith diweddar yn darlunio tri thestun sy’n archwilio themâu rhywedd, tanseilio normau heterorywiol, a hunaniaeth. Y nod ar gyfer fy ymchwil oedd gofyn cwestiynau ynghylch materion sy’n ymwneud ag agweddau cymdeithasol o fewn yr ymwybyddiaeth ddiwylliannol gyfunol. Mae’r delweddau eu hunain yn datgelu darnau allweddol o’r plot sy’n gorfodi’r gwyliwr i drochi ei hun yn llawn yn y testun. Yr hyn y mae’r gwaith hwn yn ei ddatgelu yw fframwaith sylfaenol sy’n sail i’n dealltwriaeth o’r symudiadau ideolegol a ddatblygodd drwy gydol y pedwar degawd sydd o ddiddordeb penodol i mi; mae fframweithiau o’r fath yn ein galluogi i gwestiynu ein dealltwriaeth o gymdeithas, ac yn y pen draw ein hunain.
