In order to move forward with design, one must draw on the past. The history of an establishment, or its surrounding areas, should be acknowledged through the designs contemporary future; henceforth, it’s not forgotten. Therefore, successful design always has a narrative.

This is the driving principle applied to my final project, Colours of Cardiff. I have utilized a derelict space to create a temporary structure which acts as a communal space within the city. My aim is to create a lively and colourful environment which also gives acknowledgement to the beauty within the often-overlooked space. Therefore, presenting the idea that one must always see the potential in the ordinary.

The colour scheme of my pop-up structure is soured from the colours founded in Cardiff. Therefore, this creation is an integration from the culture surrounding it.

The temporary structure can be adopted, and adapted, to any city to reflect the values and the visual arts of the surrounding area.

Er mwyn symud ymlaen gyda dylunio, bydd rhaid pwyso ar y gorffennol. Dylid cydnabod hanes sefydliad, neu’r ardaloedd o’i gwmpas, drwy ddyfodol cyfoes y dylunio, o hyn ymlaen ni fydd yn mynd yn angof. Felly, dylai fod stori gan ddylunio llwyddiannus bob amser.

Dyma’r egwyddor bwysig a ddefnyddiais gyda fy mhrosiect terfynol, Lliwiau Caerdydd. Rwyf wedi defnyddio gofod diffaith i greu fframwaith dros dro a fydd yn gweithredu yn ofod cymunedol o fewn y ddinas. Fy nod yw creu amgylchedd bywiog a lliwgar a fydd hefyd yn cydnabod yr harddwch o fewn y gofod sy’n cael ei anwybyddu’n aml, gan gyflwyno, felly, y syniad y dylai pawb weld y potensial yn y cyffredin bob tro.

Mae cynllun lliwiau fy fframwaith dros dro yn dod o’r lliwiau a welir yng Nghaerdydd. Felly mae’r greadigaeth hon yn gyfuniad o’r diwylliant sydd o’n cwmpas.

Gellir mabwysiadu’r fframwaith dros dro a’i addasu i unrhyw ddinas i gael adlewyrchu gwerthoedd a chelfyddyd weledol yr ardal o gwmpas.
