Considerate Simplicity

As a designer, I absorb the world around me visually and spiritually. My ability to reflect on postmodernity, its alluring opportunities and misleading blind alleys have influenced my views on fashion. I favour considerate design and conscious fashion as opposed to fuss and decoration. My interest in both academic and trend research feed my design aesthetics and focus on ready-to-wear. I explore new ideas in creative pattern cutting through developing unconventional relaxed silhouettes. Bauhaus, which combines effortless style and function, remains the core of my design and inspiration.

Considerate Simplicity echos my conclusions on fashion, my passion for research as well as my admiration of artists such as Kandinsky, the master of Bauhaus. A circle and an arch, the most basic shapes in our world (also omnipresent in Bauhaus art) inspired the soft lines of this collections silhouettes. They are an expression of my inspiration as well as the personal perception of fashion filtered through current trends – to create newness and longevity. My choice of easy to wear fabrics and exploration of controlling them around the body aimed to create functional, comfortable pieces that stay stable in the wardrobe season after season which is a necessity in the current times. Contemporary shapes and neutral colour palette create a balance emphasising Ludwig Mies van der Rohes ‘less is more’ approach which stands in opposition to excess and mediocrity.

Symlrwydd Ystyriol

Fel dylunydd, rwy’n amsugno’r byd o’m cwmpas yn weledol ac yn ysbrydol. Mae fy ngallu i adfyfyrio ar ôl-foderniaeth, ei chyfleoedd hudolus a’i llwybrau pengoll, wedi dylanwadu ar fy marn ar ffasiwn. Rwy’n ffafrio dyluniad ystyriol a ffasiwn ymwybodol yn hytrach na ffwdan ac addurn. Mae fy niddordeb mewn ymchwil academaidd ac ymchwil i dueddiadau yn bwydo fy estheteg dylunio ac yn canolbwyntio ar ddillad parod i’w gwisgo. Rwy’n archwilio syniadau newydd o ran torri patrymau creadigol drwy ddatblygu silwetau hamddenol anghonfensiynol. Bauhaus, sy’n cyfuno arddull a swyddogaeth ddiymdrech, yw craidd fy nyluniad a’m hysbrydoliaeth o hyd.

Mae Symlrwydd Ystyriol yn adleisio fy nghasgliadau ynglŷn â ffasiwn, fy angerdd am ymchwil yn ogystal â’m hedmygedd o artistiaid fel Kandinsky, meistr Bauhaus. Cylch a bwa, y ffurfiau mwyaf sylfaenol yn ein byd (ac yn hollbresennol yng nghelf Bauhaus) a ysbrydolodd linellau esmwyth silwetau’r casgliad hwn. Maen nhw’n fynegiant o fy ysbrydoliaeth yn ogystal ag yn ganfyddiad personol o ffasiwn wedi’i hidlo drwy’r tueddiadau cyfredol – i greu newydd-deb a hirhoedledd. Diben fy newis o ffabrigau hawdd eu gwisgo ac archwilio sut i’w rheoli o gwmpas y corff oedd creu darnau defnyddiadwy, cyfforddus sy’n aros yn wisgadwy yn y cwpwrdd dillad dymor ar ôl y tymor, sy’n anghenraid yn yr oes sydd ohoni. Mae ffurfiau cyfoes a phalet lliw niwtral yn creu cydbwysedd, gan bwysleisio dull ‘cyfoeth mewn cynildeb’ Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, sy’n gadarn wrthwynebus i ormodedd a chyffredinedd.
