Newport Library

The library is located in Newport near the riverfront. This steel frame structure is constructed with a traditional cavity wall from ground to first floor and a chameleon cladding from first to third floor. Umbra Sawtooth bricks were used to replicate the river. The chameleon cladding changes colour with the amount of sunlight directed on the building.

An innovative aspect of the building is the opaque glazing located on the South West elevation. As there is a high amount of sun facing this elevation, this glazing is ideal to independently reduce the amount of sun entering the building.

Glazed pods are located on different elevations of the building, for people to relax and admire the surrounding views.
