Amber Maddison Davies

BA (Hons) Product Design

I believe that products should be designed with empathy, purpose and a currency to empower, equip and enable. My driving purpose is to design beautiful products that not only excel in function, but, in their ability to positively and emotively capture and fundamentally aid the user experience. With a unique empathy and understanding for individual needs and the importance of user empowerment developed through my own experiences, I am ambitious, resilient, inquisitive and bring this design perspective alongside innovative and practical solutions to each design problem I encounter.

With a critical and open minded approach, my strengths lie within the user centric research and ideation stages where an innovative approach is used to identify and understand real world problems as opportunities for using design techniques and tools for improving user interactions resulting in the development of improved and seamless product experiences. This passion and resilience to create change with underpinning purpose enables me to work as a dynamic member of a multidisciplinary team, as a leader or, excel as an individual.

Throughout my work, I apply an iterative design process that enables me to evaluate, develop and implement my concepts. Through a wide range of real world experience, from running campaigns and publicly speaking in The Senedd, to a variety of 24 hour live client briefs, I am able to confidently network and communicate my concepts to the public, colleagues and clients as well as market them effectively.

Credaf y dylai cynhyrchion gael eu dylunio gydag empathi, pwrpas a gallu i rymuso, paratoi a galluogi. Y nod sy’n fy sbarduno yw dylunio cynhyrchion hardd sydd nid yn unig yn rhagori o ran swyddogaeth, ond, yn eu gallu i gipio profiad y defnyddiwr yn gadarnhaol ac yn emosiynol a bod yn gymorth sylfaenol iddo. Gydag empathi a dealltwriaeth unigryw ar gyfer anghenion unigol a’r pwysigrwydd o rymuso defnyddwyr a ddatblygir trwy fy mhrofiadau fy hun, rwy’n uchelgeisiol, yn wydn, yn chwilfrydig ac yn dod â’r persbectif dylunio hwn ynghyd ag atebion arloesol ac ymarferol i bob problem ddylunio rwy’n ymwneud â hi.

Gydag agwedd feirniadol ac agored, mae fy nghryfderau yn y cyfnodau ymchwil a syniadaeth sy’n canolbwyntio ar y defnyddiwr, lle defnyddir dull arloesol i nodi a deall problemau yn y byd go iawn fel cyfle i ddefnyddio technegau ac adnoddau dylunio i wella rhyngweithiadau defnyddwyr, gan arwain at ddatblygu profiadau gwell a di-dor o’r cynnyrch. Mae’r angerdd a’r gwydnwch hwn i greu newid gyda phwrpas sylfaenol yn fy ngalluogi i weithio fel aelod deinamig o dîm amlddisgyblaethol, fel arweinydd neu, i ragori fel unigolyn.

Yn fy holl waith, rwy’n cymhwyso proses ddylunio ailadroddol sy’n fy ngalluogi i werthuso, datblygu a gweithredu fy nghysyniadau. Drwy brofiadau eang o’r byd go iawn, o gynnal ymgyrchoedd a siarad yn gyhoeddus yn y Senedd, i amrywiaeth o friffiau cleientiaid byw 24 awr, rwy’n gallu rhwydweithio a chyfleu fy syniadau’n hyderus i’r cyhoedd, cydweithwyr a chleientiaid yn ogystal â’u marchnata’n effeithiol.

Accessing reliable information sources for ostomates with regards to daily living can be difficult with subject matters considered embarrassing or taboo unanswered leaving ostomates feeling isolated and confused. Inside Out is a social styled app with one of its key features being a podcast series that handles these unmet topics informatively but, importantly, personably with aim of breaking stereotypes, raising awareness and helping others feel less alone.

Mae cael mynediad i ffynonellau gwybodaeth dibynadwy ar gyfer pobl â stoma mewn perthynas â bywyd bob dydd yn gallu bod yn anodd, gan fethu â rhoi atebion i bynciau sy’n cael eu hystyried yn chwithig neu dabŵ, a gadael pobl â stoma’n teimlo’n ynysig ac yn ddryslyd. Mae Inside Out yn ap o fath cymdeithasol, ac un o’i nodweddion allweddol yw cyfres o bodlediad sy’n ymdrin â’r pynciau hyn yn addysgiadol ac mewn ffordd ddymunol, sy’n bwysig, gyda’r nod o chwalu stereoteipiau, codi ymwybyddiaeth a helpu eraill i deimlo’n llai ynysig.

Over 70% of people living with a stoma typically face problems with facilities when managing their appliance in public. This can prove challenging both mentally and physically, posing problems with hygiene, space, time, access, mess and emotional stress. This project aims to improve the experience, organization and ease of stoma bag changes particularly in ‘emergency’ scenarios when out and about through tackling some of these key identified areas of problem.

Yn nodweddiadol, mae dros 70% o bobl sy’n byw â stoma yn wynebu problemau â chyfleusterau wrth reoli eu cyfarpar yn gyhoeddus. Gall hyn fod yn heriol, yn feddyliol ac yn gorfforol, gan achosi problemau o ran hylendid, lle, amser, mynediad, aflendid a straen emosiynol. Nod y prosiect hwn yw gwella profiad, trefniadaeth a rhwyddineb o ran newid bagiau stoma, yn enwedig mewn senarios ‘argyfwng’ y tu allan i’r cartref, drwy fynd i’r afael â rhai o’r problemau allweddol hyn a nodir.

Recognising its invaluable benefits, I have gained a vast range of real world experience from working with live clients on 24hour briefs, reaching 17million views on a video created with the BBC, developing an advert for print in the EasyJet magazine, through to designing campaigns and working with local authorities to implement design changes. Photographed, I am speaking at The Senedd during the launch of #BeTheChange, a campaign that I have been heavily involved with.

Gan gydnabod y manteision amhrisiadwy, rwyf wedi profi ystod eang o brofiad yn y byd go iawn wrth weithio â chleientiaid byw ar friffiau 24 awr, gan gyrraedd 17 miliwn o wyliadau ar fideo a grëwyd â’r BBC, a datblygu hysbyseb i’w argraffu yng nghylchgrawn EasyJet, a dylunio ymgyrchoedd a gweithio gydag awdurdodau lleol i weithredu newidiadau o ran dylunio. Yn y ffotograff, rwy’n siarad yn y Senedd yn ystod lansiad #BeTheChange, sef ymgyrch rwyf wedi ymwneud yn helaeth â hi.
