This body of work looks deeply into the subtlety of colour through material, and how using luxury materials, such as porcelain, I can create delicate work with the overarching theme of yonic informing my ceramic practice. To create my forms I used a simple finger pinching method and the material naturally forms into these organic and yonic shapes.

I am inspired by the micro world around me, from the subtle colours in concrete to the line work on my own hand from working with clay. I often hyper focus and everything around me falls away, and I look deeply and closely at a small corner of a material world in front of me. From this, I start to build a colour and texture map in my mind which I then try to translate into my work.

I love the hues and shades of blush pink and light stone grey that porcelain turns when fired, and my project has shaped into how I can show the viewer this unique point of view I have. Taking colours from within the material up-close, I then translated it into a bold wall piece. I have also used fabric and thread on my second project, which highlights line and colour taken from my ceramic pieces. I have created a conversation between the 3D and the 2D to highlight the delicate soft forms into a tactile material.

Mae’r corff hwn o waith yn edrych yn dreiddgar ar gynildeb lliw trwy ddeunydd a sut, drwy ddefnyddio deunyddiau moethus, fel porslen, y gallaf greu gwaith cywrain gyda’r thema gyffredinol o’r ïonig yn llywio fy ymarfer ceramig. I greu fy ffurfiau, defnyddiais ddull syml pinsio â bysedd ac mae’r deunydd yn ffurfio’n naturiol i’r siapiau organig ac ïonig hyn.

Dwi’n cael fy ysbrydoli gan y byd micro o’m cwmpas, o’r lliwiau cynnil mewn concrid i’r gwaith llinellau ar fy llaw fy hun o weithio gyda chlai. Byddaf yn canolbwyntio’n gyfan gwbl yn aml a bydd popeth o’m cwmpas yn diflannu, a dwi’n edrych yn fanwl ac yn agos iawn ar gornel fach o fyd materol o’m blaen. O hyn, dwi’n dechrau adeiladu map lliw a gwead yn fy meddwl y byddaf wedyn yn ceisio ei drosi i’m gwaith.

Dwi wrth fy modd â’r arlliwiau pinc ysgafn a lliw carreg lwyd olau y mae porslen yn troi iddynt wrth ei danio, ac mae fy mhrosiect wedi datblygu i sut gallaf ddangos y safbwynt unigryw hwn sydd gen i i’r gwyliwr. Gan edrych yn fanwl ar y lliwiau o fewn y deunydd, dwi’n ei drosi wedyn yn ddarn o waith trawiadol ar wal. Dwi wedi defnyddio ffabrig ac edau ar fy ail brosiect hefyd, sy’n amlygu llinellau a lliwiau o’m darnau ceramig. Dwi wedi creu sgwrs rhwng y 3D a’r 2D i dynnu sylw at droi’r ffurfiau meddal yn ddeunydd cyffyrddol.
