The ethos of my work is to celebrate a pure minimalist design, to reveal the essential beauty of qualities and values that exist in our architecture and products. It is a beauty derived from a balance of elements that help us feel centred, with the capacity to create a calming environment. Minimalism is about focusing on what’s important rather than what’s not, a perfect amount.

I use industrial making methods to explore the forms – lathe, mould making and slip casting. Through the lathe I develop a refined clean form which is cast to create a negative mould enabling production of repeated forms. The colours I chose offer a subtle tonal range from white, blue and pink.

The end result is a still life composition that has both functional and sculptural capability. Presented in a similar way to a cityscape it reflects elements of brutalist architecture, balanced, clean lines, simply composed.

Ethos fy ngwaith yw dathlu cynllun minimalaidd pur, er mwyn datgelu harddwch hanfodol rhinweddau a gwerthoedd sy’n bodoli yn ein pensaernïaeth a’n cynnyrch. Mae’n harddwch sy’n deillio o gydbwysedd elfennau sy’n ein helpu ni i deimlo wedi ein canoli, gyda’r gallu i greu amgylchedd sy’n tawelu. Mae minimaliaeth yn ymwneud â chanolbwyntio ar yr hyn sy’n bwysig yn hytrach na beth sydd ddim, swm perffaith.

Dwi’n defnyddio dulliau gwneud diwydiannol i archwilio’r ffurfiau – turn, gwneud mowldiau a chastio slip. Trwy’r turn dwi’n datblygu ffurf lân wedi’i mireinio sy’n cael ei chastio i greu mowld negyddol sy’n fy ngalluogi i gynhyrchu ffurfiau ailadroddus. Mae’r lliwiau a ddewisais yn amrediad cynnil o donau gwyn, glas a phinc.

Y canlyniad yw cyfansoddiad bywyd llonydd sydd â gallu swyddogaethol a cherfluniol. Caiff ei gyflwyno mewn ffordd debyg i dreflun gan adlewyrchu elfennau o bensaernïaeth frutalaidd, llinellau cytbwys, glân, wedi’u cyfansoddi’n syml.
