I Just Want to Fucking Experience Your Wonderland

‘Psychic automatism’ is the fundamental ambition of my work; I am creating beyond the constrictions of the control of theme or concept. My work is not dictated by reason or rational order; instead it follows its own rhythm as a manifestation of my subconscious.

This film was shot within two very different times in my life, parts leading up to a severe psychotic episode, depicting imagery relating to my paranoia; and since returning to good health, where the clips used explore a sense of freedom.

Having explored various ways of recording moving image, I selected VHS as I felt the inconsistent quality and grainy impurities resonated strongly with my work and my mental state before hospital and through my recovery to present. The unpredictable nature of VHS relates to my mind having transformed from one state to another, I decided for this reason to carry on using this format.
