Forms From Other Worlds
The Planet collection questions how form can be structured, from information, data, and systems. The pieces are born through algorithmic generation using planetary data as the defining constraints of the form. Consequently, each piece is unique to the world it represents; with the reflectivity of each planet playing a key part in defining the material and finish of the form. Each piece is made using a fusion of hand and machine, with the pieces beginning as digital forms they are cut or cast using new and age old techniques to create the pieces in the different representative materials; Bronze, Aluminium, White Earthenware, Terracotta, Porcelain, Concrete, Walnut, Oak, and Glass.
As an artist, designer and maker, I seek to produce work that bridges the gap between art and design. Exploring the brink of the two sectors, I strive to create pieces which can be both functional and sculptural. I enjoy working with complex making processes that combine the traditional and the digital, through a range of materials enabling me to make pieces which demonstrate both concept and craftsmanship.
