Influenced by social media and the effect it holds on the self-image of young women, I explore the growth of social media and how it has influenced the way women are perceived by men and society using social platforms. I address issues such as revenge porn and slut shaming considering the influence of the male gaze and trying to understand why woman send erotic images, the risks involved in sending them and how this may affect the sender. Through large scale paintings I aim to glorify the image of the female nudity and to take the stigma associated with sexually explicit photos taken by the everyday woman. I also aim to inspire young women with assertive statements, these statements are inspired from activist groups such as Femen. I hope to inspire women not to fall under the pressures of sending a nude image and only to send it if it is their decision and a decision they are confident with.
