(Spring/ Summer 2020)

This exhibition is inspired by the British culture with elements of Pakistani culture. It is particularly inspired by the work of William Morris and Pakistani beadwork along with Chintz style. The influence of culture is an everlasting muse in the fashion and textile industry. Inspiring Iconic works such as the Chanel Pre Fall 2012 collection, which took features from Indian culture, while the Indian designer Manish Arora was inspired by British pop culture and based his fall 2012 collection on graffiti. Although cultures sometime create boundaries between people it is the designers who are trying to break these and bringing people together. With this collection it is my aim to break barriers between cultures and unite them through designing pieces that can be worn by anyone without associating to a particular group. To form this collection, I used a range of traditional and digital drawing techniques with the combination of hand bead work.

Cafodd yr arddangosfa hon ei hysbrydoli gan y diwylliant Prydeinig gydag elfennau o ddiwylliant Pacistan. Gwaith William Morris a gleinwaith Pacistanaidd fu’n ysbrydoliaeth arbennig ynghyd ag arddull Chintz. Mae dylanwad diwylliant yn awen ddiderfyn yn y diwydiant ffasiynau a thecstilau, yn ysbrydoli gweithiau eiconig megis casgliad 2012 Chanel, a gymerodd nodweddion o ddiwylliant India, a chafodd y dylunydd Manish Arora o’r India ei ysbrydoli gan y diwylliant pop Prydeinig a fu’n sail i’w gasgliad yntau yn 2012 ar graffiti. Er y bydd diwylliannau weithiau’n creu ffiniau rhwng pobl, y dylunwyr sy’n ceisio dileu’r rhain a dod â phobl ynghyd. Yn y casgliad yma, fy nod yw dileu’r rhwystrau rhwng diwylliannau a’u huno â’i gilydd drwy ddylunio darnau y gall pawb eu gwisgo, a hynny heb gysylltu ag unrhyw grŵp penodol. I ffurfio’r casgliad yma, defnyddiais ystod o dechnegau lluniadu digidol a thraddodiadol ynghyd â gleinwaith llaw.
