BA (Hons) Product Design

Product design is a practice people interact with daily, therefore it should be held socially and environmentally accountable.

I have developed a varied range of products from a collaborative, calming work pod to be utilised within a stressful office environment to a mixed martial arts training aid to provide statistical reviews of your progress as well as providing health insights and training tips, which are all easy to navigate through with the use of ân ap. As a product designer, I feel I have the responsibility to develop products from cradle to grave, minimising the environmental and social impact my products have.

Product design as a practice consists of a lot of problem solving, critical thinking and communication, to ensure that at the end of the design process the product which has been developed is user centric, reliable and fully considered from the beginning of the products life to the end when it is being disposed of.

Mae dylunio cynnyrch yn ymarfer y mae pobl yn rhyngweithio ag ef bob dydd, felly dylai gael ei ddwyn i gyfrif yn gymdeithasol ac yn amgylcheddol.

Rwyf wedi datblygu detholiad amrywiol o gynhyrchion, fel pod gwaith tawel a chydweithredol i’w ddefnyddio mewn amgylchedd swyddfa llawn straen, a chymorth hyfforddiant crefftau ymladd cymysg i ddarparu adolygiadau ystadegol o’ch cynnydd yn ogystal â darparu awgrymiadau iechyd a syniadau am hyfforddiant, sydd oll yn hawdd llywio drwyddynt drwy ddefnyddio ap. Fel dylunydd cynnyrch, rwy’n teimlo bod gennyf gyfrifoldeb i ddatblygu cynnyrch o’r crud i’r bedd, gan leihau effaith amgylcheddol a chymdeithasol fy nghynhyrchion.

Mae dylunio cynnyrch fel ymarfer yn cynnwys llawer o ddatrys problemau, meddwl yn feirniadol a chyfathrebu, er mwyn sicrhau bod y cynnyrch a ddatblygir, ar ddiwedd y broses ddylunio yn canolbwyntio ar y defnyddiwr, yn ddibynadwy ac wedi’i ystyried yn llawn o ddechrau oes y cynnyrch hyd at y diwedd pan fydd yn cael ei waredu.

This is a final render from a competition brief set by W2W, which was to design a piece of furniture which promotes collaboration and considers the circular economy. The final outcome was a pod, manufactured from repurposed parachutes. EscaPod aims to provide people working within high stress environments a place to relax away from their desk space.

Dyma rendrad olaf o frîff cystadleuaeth a osodwyd gan W2W, i ddylunio darn o ddodrefn sy’n hyrwyddo cydweithredu ac sy’n ystyried yr economi gylchol. Y canlyniad terfynol oedd pod, a weithgynhyrchwyd o barasiwtiau wedi’u hailosod. Nod EscaPod yw darparu lle i bobl sy’n gweithio mewn amgylcheddau straen uchel ymlacio i ffwrdd o’u desgiau.

To go in hand with a product I had designed to allow mixed martial arts athletes to train on an individual basis I designed an app to provide statistical feedback about their training sessions. A clear journey is mapped out for the user and the app not only provides statistical reviews but also training guidance and health insights to optimise the users training progress.

I fynd law yn llaw â chynnyrch roeddwn i wedi’i gynllunio i ganiatáu i athletwyr crefftau ymladd cymysg hyfforddi ar eu pennau eu hunain, dyluniais ap i ddarparu adborth ystadegol am eu sesiynau hyfforddi. Mae taith glir wedi’i mapio ar gyfer y defnyddiwr ac mae’r ap nid yn unig yn darparu adolygiadau ystadegol ond hefyd arweiniad hyfforddi a mewnwelediadau iechyd i wneud y gorau o gynnydd hyfforddiant y defnyddiwr.

This is an image of the final products that were manufactured for a start-up business CO.Z. The product range consisted of scented jars which were made using translucent wax and packed with potpourri to compliment the scent of the jars.

Dyma ddelwedd o’r cynhyrchion terfynol a weithgynhyrchwyd ar gyfer busnes cychwynnol CO.Z. Roedd yr ystod cynnyrch yn cynnwys jariau persawrus a wnaed gan ddefnyddio cwyr tryloyw a’u pacio â potpourri i gyd-fynd ag arogl y jariau.

As a design team we designed a sustainable food packaging for the vegetarian food company The Parsnipship, to allow them to sell their product range within supermarkets. As a team we were fortunate to follow the development of our design, to see the final product.

Fel tîm dylunio gwnaethom ddylunio pecyn bwyd cynaliadwy ar gyfer y cwmni bwyd llysieuol The Parsnipship, er mwyn caniatáu iddynt werthu eu hystod cynnyrch mewn archfarchnadoedd. Roeddem fel tîm yn ffodus i gael dilyn datblygiad ein dyluniad, i weld y cynnyrch terfynol.
