Self

1 in 4 people in the UK suffer from mental health issues each year. My work hopes to create awareness and shed light on the stigma that comes with mental illness. Not only is mental illness more common than some people may think but it can also be an issue for people that you may think are perfectly fine. My work is a mixture of photography, embroidery, paint amongst other things to document the different faces of mental health from my own personal experience. My collage of photographs has been brought together with the connecting and intertwining string to create a self-portrait in a non-generic form. A collection of self-portraits, each very different but every one showing a different side of myself.
