Waterside Art Centre

Cardiff Bay consists of 13km waterfront providing opportunities for tourism and water-based recreation. The site is located in Britannia Road with availability of the site to be developed. With the development of a new art centre within the area, it will prove the site to be beneficial towards the area as to optimise its strategic location. Various studies were carried out throughout the whole design stage in order to utilise the site’s potential. Following these initial studies, the detail design is then developed.

The building will be 6 storeys high and will be used for an art centre that will provide workspace, art galleries, dance and aerobic, studio workshop, life drawing, café and bar, reading area, crèche, cinema and theatre. These facilities that will be provided will maintain and make the Cardiff Bay more vibrant for the location.

Materials chosen for the façade are designed to be vivid and striking and with the new Waterside Art Centre proposed it will also incorporate sustainable strategies within the design of the structure and an innovative contribution towards the construction industry.
