Responding to local geological phenomena, these pieces reflect a creative investigation into the concept of material. Heat, pressure and time, are the predominant forces in both geological and ceramic process, altering states of material.

This work represents a journey through forces both objective and subjective. Material and its subsequent qualities are the artists palette. While the artists subjective engagement and experience of phenomena, shape and give form to the work.

The psychological phenomenon Pareidolia can cause people to interpret random images, or patterns of light and shadow, as faces. The human face is chosen here as a tool of expression and communication.
