Louise Emily Brown

BA (Hons) Fine Art

My work evolves from the perception of the female body and occurs through the process of capturing my naked body in a variety of different naturalistic locations. These works are in response to the media’s representation of the female body and its negative effects on women’s mental health. Using the camera to document the light and shadow within the figure’s curves – where the natural beauty is heightened, derives from the core concept of celebrating the natural female body for what it is, rather than what it could be. Using the camera, it enables the exploration of my body, capturing movement and time whilst also investigating how the use of pose may impower the female body image. I am also interested in how the body relates to nature, finding a correlation between female beauty and the outside world. Within society we focus on the inside world, being consumed by technology but here, the naked body emulates the beauty of the outside world.

Mae fy ngwaith yn esblygu o’r canfyddiad o’r corff benywaidd ac yn digwydd trwy’r broses o ddal fy nghorff noeth mewn amrywiaeth o leoliadau naturiolaidd gwahanol. Mae’r gweithiau hyn mewn ymateb i gynrychiolaeth y cyfryngau o’r corff benywaidd a’i effeithiau negyddol ar iechyd meddwl menywod. Mae defnyddio’r camera i ddogfennu’r golau a’r cysgod o fewn cromliniau’r ffigwr – lle mae’r harddwch naturiol yn cael ei ddwysáu, yn deillio o’r cysyniad craidd o ddathlu’r corff benywaidd naturiol am yr hyn ydyw, yn hytrach na’r hyn y gallai fod. Gan ddefnyddio’r camera, mae’n galluogi archwilio fy nghorff, gan ddal symudiad ac amser tra hefyd yn ymchwilio i sut y gall y defnydd o ystum amharu ar ddelwedd corff benywaidd. Mae gennyf ddiddordeb hefyd yn y modd y mae’r corff yn ymwneud â natur, gan ddod o hyd i gydberthynas rhwng harddwch benywaidd a’r byd y tu allan. O fewn cymdeithas rydym yn canolbwyntio ar y byd mewnol, yn cael ein bwyta gan dechnoleg ond yma, mae’r corff noeth yn efelychu harddwch y byd y tu allan.
