Porcelain has been used for centuries for its unique properties. It is fine, delicate, vulnerable and retains evidence of each interaction made with it, fixing a moment in time, documenting a history, the life of the clay.

My forms exploit this capacity, finding parallels between these material properties and the nature of our own memory.

Our recollections are equally vulnerable, fragmented, with sections given emphasis, repeated and overworked whilst others remain faded, blurred, dissolving into the background.

With marks made subconsciously and others with more purpose through use of photographs and text, I want to create objects that reflect the nature of our memory, often disjointed, fractures of a moment of time passing.

Mae porslen wedi cael ei ddefnyddio ers canrifoedd oherwydd ei nodweddion unigryw. Mae’n gain, yn fregus, yn agored i niwed ac yn cadw tystiolaeth o unrhyw ryngweithio a wneir gydag ef, gan gipio eiliad mewn amser, gan gofnodi hanes, bywyd y clai.

Mae fy ffurfiau’n manteisio ar y gallu hwn, gan ddod o hyd i gymariaethau rhwng y nodweddion materol hyn a natur ein cof ni ein hunain.

Mae ein hatgofion yr un mor agored i niwed, yn dameidiog, gyda rhai adrannau’n cael eu pwysleisio, eu hailadrodd a’u gorweithio tra bod eraill yn parhau i fod yn bŵl, yn aneglur ac yn ymdoddi i’r cefndir.

Gyda marciau wedi’u gwneud yn isymwybodol ac eraill gyda mwy o bwrpas trwy ddefnyddio ffotograffau a thestun, dwi eisiau creu gwrthrychau sy’n adlewyrchu natur ein cof, sy’n ddigyswllt yn aml, tameidiau o ennyd mewn amser.
